The State Intelligence Agency, National Army and Police of the Republic of Indonesia Synergize to Secure the 10th WWF Summit in Bali

Jakarta — Indonesia is preparing to host a major international event, the 10th World Water Forum Summit (WWF Summit), which will take place in Bali from 18 to 25 May 2024. To ensure the smoothness and security of this event, the State Intelligence Agency ( BIN), the Indonesian National Army (TNI), and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) collaborated in protecting and escorting the delegation.

Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, Head of the National Police’s Public Relations Division, said in a statement on Monday (6/5), that the National Police, BIN together with the TNI and various stakeholders had designed a security strategy to ensure the 10th WWF Summit ran safely and smoothly.

The security operation with the code Ops Puri Agung 2024 was planned 10 days before the event. A total of 5,791 personnel have been deployed, with details of 2,485 personnel from the National Police Headquarters, 2,706 personnel from the Bali Regional Police, 300 personnel from the East Java Regional Police, and 300 personnel from the NTB Regional Police.

“It is very important to have good coordination and communication between security personnel from the National Police, BIN and TNI. Apart from that, outreach to the public must also be promoted by collaborating with various parties, including influencers, local and national media, as well as event ambassadors,” said Sandi.

This step aims to build public awareness and ensure community support for the implementation of the 10th WWF Summit.

Brigadier General Raden Slamet Santoso as Head of the National Police’s Escort, Route, Patrol and Parking Task Force, said that his party had identified vulnerable points that required special attention.

“We have prepared several things to overcome potential traffic vulnerabilities and the safety of the delegation and heads of state who will attend,” said Raden.

Meanwhile, Command Wing I of the Indonesian Air Force Kopasgat also sent around 24 marksmen or snipers to provide security for the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) which took place in Bali on 18-25 May 2024.

“The Matan Team itself and 24 snipers will be involved in the summit in Bali,” said the Commander of the Kopasgat I Command Wing, Colonel Pas Helmi A Nange.

Previously, the Head of the TNI Information Center, Major General Nugraha Gumilar, said that the TNI deployed around 12 thousand personnel from three dimensions to secure WWF in Bali this month.

Apart from security, the TNI also has responsibility in the health sector.

“In total, around 12 thousand people will be deployed, three dimensions, from the Kodam in Bali as well as those in charge there,” said Gumilar.

This event is an important opportunity for Indonesia to show commitment and real contribution in managing water resources, as well as to promote Bali tourism to the international world.

With security operations covering Bali, East Java and West Nusa Tenggara, synergy between BIN, TNI and Polri institutions is the key to the success of the 10th WWF Summit.

Indonesia’s election as host of the 10th WWF Summit provides a golden opportunity for this country to promote the beauty and culture of Bali, as well as demonstrate its readiness to hold international events safely and successfully. Therefore, the cooperation of BIN, TNI and Polri in securing this event is a key factor in achieving this success. [pt]
