The existence of an Indonesian capital city improves the economy of the community
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have long been the backbone of the Indonesian economy. With significant contributions to economic growth, job creation and spreading prosperity across the country, MSMEs play a vital role in building the foundations of a sustainable economy.
The development of MSMEs in Indonesia has experienced a positive trend in recent years, and the presence of IKN in East Kalimantan is expected to have a significant positive impact on this sector.
The Indonesian government has placed improving MSMEs as one of the priorities in its economic development agenda. Policy measures, including providing access to financing, training, infrastructure and market access, have been implemented to support the growth and competitiveness of MSMEs. As a result, Indonesian MSMEs have experienced stable growth and their contribution to gross domestic product (GDP) has increased.
The Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) stated that building an ecosystem of start-up companies and MSMEs is very important in the archipelago, East Kalimantan. For this reason, OIKN supports efforts to increase the development of startups and MSMEs in IKN.
OIKN Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation, Prof. Mohammed Ali Berawi said that the formation of a startup and MSME ecosystem is very important in achieving the target of a Golden Indonesia 2045. With an increase in the productive age, this needs to be accompanied by the development of job opportunities in the digital and creative sectors.
OIKN fully supports the development of an ecosystem that supports start-up companies and MSMEs as part of IKN development. The development of the Archipelago Capital involves local residents so that they are not only spectators, but also actors in development through various coaching programs, digital literacy training, upskilling and reskilling.
The creative economy is the process of creating added value that originates from innovative ideas and creativity of human resources, including the use of science, cultural heritage and technology. Not only does it make a significant contribution to the Indonesian economy, but it also has a positive impact on social, cultural and environmental aspects.
In line with this, the Director of Basic Services of the IKN Authority, Suwito said that the driving force of Indonesia’s national economy is MSMEs. Therefore, fellow MSME business actors need to be nurtured and given more attention, especially MSMEs operating in the food and beverage sector in the IKN delienation area.
Food and beverage MSMEs have an important role in the archipelago, East Kalimantan in making society healthy and maintaining worker productivity. Maintaining public health in the IKN area is the main task of the IKN Authority. Starting from protecting the food of workers and the community, the IKN Authority together with the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) held Ready-to-Eat Food Safety Training at IKN.
This training is a holistic training, where this training covers food and beverage MSME administration, food health, preventing the spread of disease. In the final session, participants received certification on the health and suitability of MSMEs as a form of capacity building for the IKN community, especially food and beverage MSME workers. []
