10th WWF Appreciated, Indonesia Successfully Holds International Event Again

Bali – Indonesia received appreciation and lots of praise for the successful implementation of the 10th WWF which took place in Nusa Dua Bali. As the host of the 10th World Water Forum (WWF), Indonesia’s achievements in leading the world are once again proven, in holding international standard events.

Appreciation came from both within and outside the country. UN Deputy Secretary General Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana said that the UN appreciated Indonesia’s leadership in formulating a joint declaration and commitment to address water and sanitation issues at the 10th WWF.

“On behalf of the UN, I would like to express my appreciation for the leadership shown by the Indonesian Government in holding this important forum,” said Armida.

According to him, the UN provided two recommendations on how to avoid water scarcity, drought and disasters related to water and sanitation. First, is through cooperation for shared water sources. Second is investment in data systems for early warning. More accurate data on self-warning systems could reduce losses caused by disasters by up to 60 percent.

Previously, the President of the World Water Council (WWC) Loic Fauchon stated that he was amazed to see Indonesia holding the 10th WWF 2024 Bali. Loic admitted that the WWF Bali event was much more professional than previous WWF events.

“Since its inception 30 years ago, this has been the most professional. The most efficient I have ever seen,” said Loic in his press statement.

According to Loic, the 10th WWF in Bali also marked the glory of Indonesian diplomacy.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut B. Pandjaitan said that as host of the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) 2024, Indonesia will provide concrete and maximum results.

“All of these are very important parameters for human prosperity, so the big theme of the 10th WWF, namely “Water for Shared Prosperity”, is very appropriate so that we understand that the water issue is a global problem that requires a joint solution,” said Coordinating Minister for Marves Luhut, who also as Chair of the 10th WWF Committee 2024.

Previously, President Joko Widodo viewed that every country faces a number of challenges that are interconnected with each other. Therefore, the Head of State emphasized the importance of collaboration to produce strategic steps in resolving these problems.

“Therefore, collaboration and solidarity are very important to produce strategic, concrete and tactical steps in solving common problems,” said Jokowi.

Apart from that, the 10th WWF which was held in Bali also proved to stimulate the tourism sector and MSMEs both locally and nationally.

On the other hand, Chairman of PHDI Bali, I Nyoman Kenak, said that Bali’s confidence in holding international events cannot be separated from the success of security and synergy between security forces and the community.

“Apart from the role of the National Police, pecalang also contributed to the success of WWF. “This synergy is very important to prevent disturbances to security and public order (kamtibmas) in the midst of WWF,” said Nyoman.

Furthermore, WWF for Nyoman has a big impact on Bali. Such as the increase in tourism to the increase in social economics. [-ed]
