Resulting in a Number of Agreements in the Water Sector, Indonesia Successfully Holds the 10th WWF

Nusa Dua, Bali – The World Water Forum High Level Conference in Nusa Dua Bali, has resulted in a number of agreements following the High Level Panel (HLP1), one of which is funding for the Karian-Serpong Regional Drinking Water Supply System.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono, explained that SPAM can provide access to drinking water to 1.84 million people living in DKI Jakarta Province and Banten Province, especially in Tangerang City and South Tangerang City. The project has an investment value of IDR 2.4 trillion.

“With the signing of this funding agreement, I am optimistic that this project will be completed soon,” said Basuki.

Basuki added that there would be other agreements after these two agreements. The list of projects collected consists of a number of basic problems related to water, ranging from providing clean, drinkable water to domestic wastewater management systems.

“There will be other agreements from this forum. A total of 113 projects worth USD 9.4 billion, including a project to accelerate the provision of drinking water for 3 million households, and a domestic wastewater management project for 300,000 households,” said Basuki.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Facilities and Infrastructure at Bappenas, Ervan Maksum, said that these 113 projects were related to studies regarding the water sector.

“A total of 113 projects have studies/studies, there are technical assistants, research centers, capacity environments, pilot projects or complete projects, and also bilateral or multilateral,” added Ervan.

The biggest projects in Indonesia come from the sanitation and drinking water side. Starting from those related to Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Acceleration of Drinking Water Provision and Domestic Waste Water Management Services and Community-Based Drinking Water and Sanitation Provision (Pamsimas).

“There are also floods, coastal areas, there are all of them. The areas are Palembang, Pantura, Makassar, small islands, Jabodetabek, Brantas (River) and Citarum (River),” concluded Ervan. [*]
