Indonesia: Government Ensures Papua’s Development Has a Positive Impact on Indigenous Papuan People

The government ensures that development in Papua will have many positive impacts, especially on indigenous Papuans themselves.

The government continues to strive to accelerate development in Papua. Not only that, the government also continues to ensure development policies that can have a direct and positive impact on all its citizens, which is the government’s main priority so far in developing Indonesia.

Moreover, during the leadership era of Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), the government continued to aggressively carry out equitable development in all corners of the archipelago, including Papua.

In order to ensure that the development of Papua that the government is promoting can run well, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia K.H. Ma’ruf Amin will again carry out a series of working visits to the Land of Papua directly from 3 to 7 June 2024.

According to the spokesperson for the Vice President, Masduki Baidlowi, this working visit is the sixth and fifth during Ma’ruf Amin’s tenure as Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Of course, the many working visits that the government has even carried out directly to meet and meet face to face with people in Papua, indicates that the state is paying great attention to the easternmost province of the country.

On his sixth working visit, the Vice President also aimed to complete the remaining provinces in the Papua region which had not been visited on previous occasions.

The visit that K.H. Ma’ruf Amin’s doing this is part of the Government’s enormous efforts and strong commitment to continue to encourage the acceleration of development and prosperity in the Papua region.

One of them is that the government really wants to ensure that the Master Plan for the Acceleration of Development in Papua (RIPPP) and also the Action Plan for the Acceleration of Development in Papua can be implemented very well and can have a direct impact on the people of Papua.

Furthermore, there are also a number of important agendas for the visit, namely the Vice President going to Merauke to hold meetings with regents, traditional leaders and human rights and peace activists in South Papua Province.

Not only that, but K.H. Ma’ruf Amin also launched various strategic projects in South Papua Province, then signed the Inauguration Inscription of the Yetetkun National Border Post in Boven Digoel and also inaugurated the Opening of the South Papua Province Village Assistance Training.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Dr. John Wempi Wetipo, during his direct visit to Southwest Papua Province, in order to monitor progress in the development of the region, also held meetings with various parties such as the Regional Government, community leaders, and security forces such as the TNI and Polri.

The meeting of various parties aims to evaluate and ensure that various development programs can run in accordance with the plans and needs of the local community.

Pangdam XVIII/Kasuari, Major General TNI Haryanto conveyed his strong commitment to continue to fully support every development program launched by the government. Because the acceleration of development can improve the welfare of the indigenous Papuan people

On this occasion, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs also expressed very high appreciation for the active role and performance of local security forces to continue to maintain security stability and support the development of Papua.

So far, the government has not only been careless in carrying out development, but has also followed up on development that is underway or has been implemented by ensuring that it is able to bring many positive benefits, especially to the Papuan people directly for the sake of improving their welfare.
