The government, through the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), together with other agencies such as the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of PUPR, continues to accelerate the development of the Manado Archipelago Student Dormitory (AMN) in North Sulawesi Province. Like the AMN Surabaya program in East Java, AMN in Manado is believed to be able to create a conducive learning environment capable of realizing Indonesia’s Golden Generation.
In his second term of leadership, President Jokowi continues to strive to improve the quality of Human Resources (HR) as the main capital to achieve the target of a Golden Indonesia 2024. One of these efforts is through the construction of Nusantara Student Dormitories (AMN) which are spread across several regions in Indonesia. In this case, AMN is not just a residence facility for students from various regions in Indonesia, but is also a conducive environment capable of creating a golden generation that is ready to compete on the global stage.
In accordance with its objectives, AMN has a central role in developing the character of its residents. In this case, AMN seeks to bring together students from all corners of Indonesia with various backgrounds, such as religion, culture, beliefs, race and ethnicity. Therefore, AMN is a place where national values, tolerance and togetherness are deeply instilled. The cultural diversity within AMN reflects the pluralistic reality of Indonesia.
In accordance with President Joko Widodo’s instructions, AMN is planned to be built in several cities, such as Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Malang, Makassar and Manado. President Joko Widodo has inaugurated AMN Surabaya while currently construction is underway for AMN Manado in North Sulawesi Province. The construction of AMN itself refers to Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 106 of 2021.
Regarding this, the Director of Strategic Infrastructure, Directorate General of Human Settlements, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Ir Essy Asiah, revealed that the construction of the AMN is continuing. He explained that the PUPR Ministry continues to encourage contractors to complete the construction of AMN Manado on time, including carrying out work checklists every week.
The author assesses that the existence of AMN is not only in terms of character development, AMN also functions as an environment that supports academic achievement. This is because there are various facilities available, ranging from study rooms, libraries, to adequate internet access, designed to support student learning activities. The conducive atmosphere in the dormitory allows students to focus on their studies, without the distractions that are often faced when living outside the campus environment.
AMN also plays an important role in maintaining Indonesia’s diversity. In the midst of social and political dynamics that sometimes test the strength of national unity, AMN is a space where the spirit of unity and oneness is grown and maintained. Students from various regions in Indonesia who live at AMN have the opportunity to get to know, understand and appreciate each other’s differences.
This was also emphasized by the Special Staff of the Steering Committee of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), Father Benny Susetyo. He explained that the construction of AMN in Manado was ideal, because in the dormitory character education and discipline would be instilled, as well as the formation of a spirit of nationalism. Thus, religious, cultural and ethnic differences will actually enrich each other even more.
Apart from that, AMN Manado could become a candradimuka crater for the nation’s next generation of young people, so more and more dormitories must be built that are not only special, but also inclusive.
The author is of the view that AMN can become a miniature Indonesian nation, especially in managing diversity, namely by respecting each other, collaborating and committing to maintaining unity. AMN is a concrete example of how differences can be united in harmony, producing positive energy that will push Indonesia towards future glory.
The generations being formed at AMN are those who have integrity, broad insight and relevant skills to face future challenges. They are agents of change who will take Indonesia beyond various obstacles to achieve big goals in 2045. Through AMN, students are forged to become tough, innovative and solution-oriented individuals, who will ultimately lead this nation into an era of glory. .
In the context of Indonesia’s journey towards a Golden Indonesia 2045, the Nusantara Student Dormitory plays a very important role. Not only a place to live for students, AMN is a character building space, intellectual development center, and leadership incubator. The conducive and inclusive environment at AMN allows students to hone their best potential, while maintaining the spirit of unity and integrity.
Through AMN, we not only prepare the next generation who are ready to compete on the global stage, but also build a strong foundation for Indonesia’s brighter future. With strong commitment from all parties, AMN will continue to contribute to creating a golden generation that will realize the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045.
