The Indonesia-Africa Forum as an Opportunity to Enhance Economic Cooperation and Investment
Bali – The Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) II is being held as part of Indonesia’s support for the ‘Agenda 2063 for Africa’. This is also reflected in the main theme of the IAF, which is “Bandung Spirit for Africa’s 2063 Agenda.”
In a written statement, the Director General of Information and Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Siti Nugraha Mauludiah, stated that Indonesia has contributed to the implementation of SST in the African region.
“In the last decade, Indonesia has contributed to the implementation of 60 SST programs in the African region. This includes sectors such as agriculture, marine and fisheries, health, energy, and governance,” said Siti.
Not only that, the Indonesian government also provides grant assistance to countries in the African region. So far, this grant assistance has reached 23 out of 54 countries in Africa.
“In 2024, there are seven grants included in the grant list, focusing on food security, transportation, and energy. There is a commitment to assist Africa with a proposal for 12 grants in 2025 in the fields of transportation and logistics, disaster management, food security, and energy,” he said.
Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for Africa to transform the continent into a global powerhouse in the future. This is a strategic framework aimed at achieving inclusive and sustainable development goals.
The main priorities of this meeting include food security, health security, energy security, and mineral security. Additionally, there will be an exhibition of products from state-owned enterprises, private companies, and Indonesian SMEs.
The event will be attended by 28 heads of state or government from Africa, as well as around 800 participants consisting of representatives from governments, international and regional organizations, and business actors from Indonesia and Africa. []
