Strengthening Global Partnerships, Indonesia Hosts the Indonesia-Africa Forum
BALI – Indonesia will once again host the international forum, the Indonesia-Africa Forum, which will be held in Bali from September 1 to 3, 2024. This event will be opened directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.
This was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Pahala Nugraha Mansury, in Jakarta. The Indonesia-Africa Forum carries the theme “Bandung Spirit for Africa’s Agenda 2063.”
This multilateral forum aims to explore cooperation and economic opportunities, strengthen development partnerships, and enhance relations between Indonesia and Africa.
With the theme “Bandung Spirit for Africa’s Agenda 2063,” this forum highlights sub-themes of economic transformation, energy, mining, food security, health, and development cooperation.
The event was attended by at least 28 heads of state or government from Africa, as well as around 800 participants, including representatives from governments, international and regional organizations, and business actors from Indonesia and Africa.
The main priorities of this meeting include food security, health security, energy security, and mineral security. In addition, there will be an exhibition of products from state-owned enterprises, private companies, and Indonesian small and medium enterprises.
Indonesia, as the host of the Asia-Africa Conference in 1955, viewed Africa as a strategic region for diversification.
The second IAF report from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that Africa is a large market, an export destination, a source of commodity supplies such as oil and gas and critical minerals, as well as a target for outbound investment and the expansion of Indonesia’s global influence.
