Indonesia Strengthens Global Alliances for the Achievement of the SDGs

Bali – Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to strengthening international collaboration, focusing on enhancing global welfare and sustainable economic development through a number of strategic initiatives.

These steps represent an important achievement towards the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals. (SDGs).

Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, Deputy for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of National Development Planning (PPN)/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), explained that from 2021 to 2022, Indonesia organized various activities, such as training sessions, workshops, seminars, and knowledge-sharing events with countries in Africa, Southeast Asia, and the South Pacific.

“These activities are intended to share experiences in planning and development as well as to strengthen economic relations,” said Amalia.

Indonesia’s active role in South-South Cooperation and Triangular Cooperation is another example. These initiatives focus on improving welfare and economic research among developing countries.

Indonesia has shown significant progress in the latest global report on the SDGs released by the United Nations. (PBB). The country’s ranking rose from 102 in 2019 to 75 in 2023.

Amalia mentioned that 63 percent of the SDG indicators in Indonesia have met their targets, while 16 percent of the other indicators show significant improvement.

“This strengthens Indonesia’s position as one of the most progressive countries among upper-middle-income nations in achieving the SDGs,” said Amalia.

This achievement, he stated, proves Indonesia’s commitment to addressing global challenges and achieving inclusive and sustainable development.

“This country has also adopted innovative financing methods, such as blended finance, to support sustainable development projects,” he said.

It also highlights that this Forum serves as a platform for leaders, practitioners, and global stakeholders to share knowledge, experiences, and practical solutions to accelerate development and strengthen the economies of developing countries.

“We want to ensure that high economic growth is also sustainable without sacrificing the environment or social welfare,” concluded Amalia.

With strong commitment and initiative, Indonesia continues to actively strengthen international cooperation and promote sustainable development. The HLF MSP 2024 in Bali is expected to be an important platform for enhancing global collaboration and achieving common goals in sustainable development.
