Indonesian Foreign Ministry: Indonesia is Committed to Strengthening Strategic Cooperation with Africa.
Bali – The Director General of Information and Public Diplomacy of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Siti Nugraha Mauludiah, stated that the Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) is a strategic platform for Indonesia to demonstrate its role and leadership in Africa.
“This IAF Forum further reinforces that the Bandung Spirit of the 1955 Asian-African Conference remains relevant in fostering solidarity for development assistance to support the goals of Africa’s Agenda 2063,” said Mauludiah.
According to him, countries in the African region are generally post-conflict nations or still experiencing conflict, which makes them vulnerable in both political and economic aspects. The development and economic challenges faced by the African region will also impact the achievement of global development goals.
“Indonesia is committed to strengthening development cooperation with Africa to enhance welfare and independence in the region. This is especially aimed at accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 and contributing to the realization of the African Agenda 2063,” he stated.
Mauludiah also emphasized that in efforts to achieve these two development goals, Indonesia and African countries will strive to design cooperation policies based on a demand-driven principle in the provision of grants from the Indonesian Government to align with the needs in the African region.
“This proves that Indonesia truly wants to ensure that the assistance provided to the African region is meaningful and impactful, beneficial in achieving development progress in Africa,” he said.
Mauludiah added that countries in Africa are considered to have great potential to become strategic partners for Indonesia in terms of economic and trade cooperation. It is hoped that this cooperation can further strengthen Indonesia’s collaboration with the African region, thereby having a positive impact on shared prosperity.
“African countries have great potential to become strategic partners for Indonesia in terms of economic and trade cooperation. This collaboration can strengthen Indonesia’s ties with the African region, resulting in positive impacts for mutual prosperity,” he concluded.
