Indonesia Successfully Invites the World to Forge Important Agreements, IAF and HLF-MSP Appreciated by World Leaders
Bali – Indonesia once again demonstrated its role as an important player on the international stage through the successful hosting of the 2nd Indonesia Africa Forum (IAF) held in Nusa Dua, Bali. The forum was attended by delegations from countries across the continent.
The Prime Minister of East Timor, Xanana Gusmao, expressed his appreciation for Indonesia’s role in organizing the HLF MSP.
He also praised Indonesia’s initiative in raising crucial topics concerning the interests of developing countries and the Global South region. Xanana highlighted that this step is reminiscent of Indonesia’s historical role in hosting the Asia-Africa Conference in Bandung in 1955.
“The Bandung Conference introduced fundamental principles in the context of South-South cooperation. These principles include respect for national sovereignty, non-intervention in the internal affairs of other countries, peaceful conflict resolution, and the application of universally applicable international law,” said Xanana.
According to Xanana, these values are still relevant and must continue to serve as guidelines in the development of more modern multilateral cooperation frameworks and multiparty partnerships.
Furthermore, Xanana stated that this high-level forum is a continuation of Indonesia’s tradition in building solidarity among Southern countries. He also emphasized the role of this forum in promoting partnerships that involve various stakeholders.
“The high-level plenary session continues Indonesia’s tradition of building solidarity among Southern countries and supporting multi-stakeholder partnerships,” said Xanana.
On the other hand, Africa has recorded various strategic agreements that will strengthen bilateral and multilateral relations between Indonesia and African countries.
The agreement reached covers various key sectors such as trade, investment, infrastructure, as well as capacity building and technology transfer.
Delegates from various African countries expressed high appreciation for the organization of the 2nd IAF. Several parties consider this forum an effective platform to deepen the cooperation that has been established since the Asia-Africa Conference in 1955.
Indonesia, as a rapidly developing economy, views Africa as a strategic partner in diversifying export markets and resources.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi, emphasized the importance of Global South solidarity in advancing development agendas and global policies that reflect the needs and aspirations of developing countries, while at the same time highlighting the necessity of an inclusive platform to enable North-South collaboration.
“This vision is in line with the spirit of Bandung 1955,” said Retno.
Indonesia once again demonstrates that through strong cooperation and constructive dialogue, it is even possible to create agreements that have a positive impact on all parties involved. The success of this forum not only brings economic benefits but also strengthens global solidarity, which will serve as the foundation for stronger partnerships in the future. Indonesia and Africa now have a solid foundation to move forward together towards a brighter future.
