Pope Francis Arrives in Indonesia for Historic Visit

Jakarta – Indonesia welcomes the arrival of Pope Francis on a historic visit that is expected to bring a message of peace and unity. Pope Francis landed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta at around 11:30 AM WIB, welcomed by several high-ranking officials and religious leaders.

The arrival of Pope Francis is a historic moment for Indonesia, a country with the largest Muslim population in the world but also home to a significant Catholic community. This visit aims to strengthen interfaith relations and promote dialogue and cooperation amidst the cultural and religious diversity of Indonesia.

During his visit to Indonesia, Pope Francis will carry out a series of activities, including attending a Holy Mass at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) and meeting with various local communities. He will also visit several important places that hold spiritual and historical significance for Catholics in Indonesia.

The Minister of Religious Affairs, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, expressed his happiness at the presence of Pope Francis. Because, according to him, not all countries are visited by the highest leader of the worldwide Catholic Church.

Yaqut assessed that Pope Francis’s visit is a sign of the close relationship between Indonesia and the Vatican.

“This shows a very close relationship between Indonesia and the Vatican. Why is that? Because not all countries have ever been visited by the Pope, even Argentina, his home country, has not been visited by him,” said Yaqut.

Yaqut added that Pope Francis’s visit will bring a message of peace.

“This shows that there is a message, a message that wants to be conveyed.” Differences are just normal, you know. So there’s nothing to be concerned about regarding differences. “And I believe that this Pope reflects the message of togetherness amidst differences,” said Yaqut.

The entire series of events will take place with strict security protocols to ensure the safety of Pope Francis and all parties involved. This visit is a historic moment that will be remembered by the Indonesian nation and the international community as a tangible example of commitment to peace and unity.
