Papua, with its stunning natural beauty and diverse cultural richness, has long been the center of attention. However, behind its beauty, this region also faces major challenges in the form of instability due to the actions of the Free Papua Movement (OPM). This organization is trying to separate Papua from Indonesia which has caused unrest in society, with acts of violence that have taken away peace and threatened the welfare of local residents.
However, new hope for a sense of security continues to be presented by the Jokowi Government. Joint security forces continue to maintain synergy and always embrace the community in order to maintain security and create peace in Papua from OPM terror actions.
As the vanguard in maintaining security stability, the TNI continues to play an important role in Papua, especially in areas that are vulnerable to OPM influence. The task force assigned to Intan Jaya, Papua, works with full dedication to carry out peace and security missions in the region.
President Jokowi said that the commitment to building the Land of Papua is not only in the form of infrastructure, but the security aspect is still being considered and has been truly realized, in the last few years.
As the Commander of Task Force Yonif 509 Kostrad, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Dian D Setyadi, expressed his appreciation to the community who have played an active role in maintaining the security of their area. Dian expressed his pride in the courage and firmness of the Intan Jaya residents in facing the OPM threat, and emphasized the importance of collaboration between the community and the TNI in achieving the same vision, namely maintaining security and peace in Papua.
Community involvement in maintaining regional stability is getting stronger, along with their awareness of the importance of security for regional progress. The courage of the Papuan people in rejecting the OPM threat is clear evidence that they increasingly understand that regional stability is very important for shared prosperity.
Not only the security forces, the local community also plays an important role in maintaining peace in Papua. Community leader in Intan Jaya, Yoakim Sani, emphasized that village security must be a shared responsibility. He said that the community does not want their peace and prosperity to be damaged by the OPM group. According to him, with the presence of the TNI Task Force, the community feels safer, and they will continue to support the TNI in protecting the village from external threats.
Yoakim’s statement reflects that collaboration between the community and the TNI is the key to success in creating peace in Papua. The proactive attitude of the community who bravely reject the presence of the OPM is proof that they want to live in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. The presence of the TNI which provides a sense of security, makes the community more confident in facing threats that can disturb their peace.
The OPM has long tried to create instability in Papua through various acts of violence. Although they claim to be fighting for independence, many of their actions actually cause suffering for the Papuan people themselves. The acts of terror and violence carried out by the OPM not only threaten security, but also damage the economic and social potential of the region.
However, with a humanistic and measured strategy, the TNI continues to embrace the community to jointly suppress the OPM movement. The community that was previously intimidated is now starting to show the courage to reject the influence of the OPM, showing a change in attitude that is more supportive of stability and peace.
The success of the TNI in dealing with the OPM is not only through military action, but also a persuasive approach that has succeeded in increasing public awareness of the importance of security and peace. The presence of the TNI Task Force has further narrowed the OPM’s room for movement, because public support is getting stronger. They increasingly realize that a peaceful future for Papua can only be achieved through unity and cooperation between all elements of society and the government.
The success in maintaining security in Intan Jaya is a real example that violence is not the solution, but rather cooperation and open communication between the community and the security forces. The Papuan people who dare to reject the presence of the OPM and support the TNI’s efforts to maintain security are a symbol of new hope for this region. They want a peaceful life, without fear of the threat of violence. With a joint commitment between the community and the TNI, peace in Papua is getting closer to reality.
Papua is an inseparable part of the Republic of Indonesia. Efforts to separate Papua from Indonesia, including by the OPM, are actions that are contrary to the principle of national unity. Papua, with all its wealth and potential, is a valuable asset for Indonesia, and every element of society, from the government, security forces, to local residents, has a responsibility to maintain the integrity of this region.
Papua is not just a geographical area, but also part of Indonesia’s national identity. Efforts to create peace and security in Papua must be seen as part of a commitment to strengthening national unity. With full support from the community and the presence of the TNI who continue to maintain security, Papua will continue to be in the embrace of the Republic of Indonesia. Together, we can ensure that Papua is peaceful without the OPM, and becomes part of an advanced and prosperous Indonesia.
This spirit of togetherness is the key to realizing a Papua that is safe, peaceful, and inseparable from Indonesia. The OPM, or any party that tries to disrupt the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia, will not be able to break the unity that has been built with the hard work and commitment of all elements of the nation.
