Prabowo’s Speech Booms: We Fight for the Interests of the Indonesian People
The 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, made a number of promises in his first speech as president after taking the oath of office at the DPR/MPR RI Building, Sunday (20/10).
At the beginning of his speech, Prabowo immediately promised to uphold the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and implement the applicable regulations to serve the country and nation.
“We will carry out this oath as best we can with a full sense of responsibility with all the strength in our souls and bodies,” said Prabowo in his speech in front of the audience including his predecessor, the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.
“We will carry out our leadership sincerely, prioritizing the interests of the Republic of Indonesia including those who did not vote for us, we will prioritize the interests of the Indonesian nation, the interests of the people above all else, above the interests of groups,” he added.
Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka were officially inaugurated as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024-2025 period.
Both were inaugurated at the Plenary Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia held at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday (20/10).
The inauguration procession of the president and vice president began with the playing of the national anthem Indonesia Raya. The plenary session was then opened by the Chairman of the MPR and Secretary General of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani.
“By Allah, I swear that I will fulfill the obligations of the President of the Republic of Indonesia as well as possible and as fairly as possible, uphold the Constitution and implement all laws and regulations as honestly as possible and serve the nation and state,” said Prabowo reading his oath.
“By Allah, I swear to fulfill the obligations of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia as best and as fairly as possible, uphold the Constitution and implement all laws and regulations as honestly as possible and serve the nation and state,” said Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Through the inauguration process, Prabowo will officially become the 8th president of the Republic of Indonesia. Meanwhile, Gibran will become the 14th vice president of the Republic of Indonesia.
