Dismantling Gambling Network, Law Enforcement Commitment in the Era of President Prabowo
Jakarta – The Government of the Republic of Indonesia, through synergy between law enforcement officers and various related institutions, continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to eradicating the increasingly rampant practice of online gambling. Under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, the law enforcement agenda has become one of the main pillars in the Asta Cita program, which is designed to encourage clean, fair, and authoritative governance.
President Prabowo emphasized that taking action against online gambling practices is an integral part of the Asta Cita vision, which includes improving social order, national security, and restoring public morals.
“Online gambling is not only an illegal activity that violates the law, but also damages the foundations of people’s lives, especially the younger generation who are vulnerable to becoming victims,” said President Prabowo in one of his statements.
Realizing this urgency, the government under the direction of President Prabowo is strongly committed to not only taking legal action, but also taking preventive measures so that the practice does not become more widespread
“Indonesia must not ignore this threat, which if left unchecked, could erode the nation’s morality and hinder development progress,” said the President.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, said that his party had taken action against a large number of online gambling sites and arrested the perpetrators involved in the network.
“The action against this online gambling practice is proof that we are serious about eradicating all forms of crime that threaten public order and the nation’s morality. We are committed to working hard with all components of society so that these practices can be eradicated to the roots,” said the Chief of Police.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief of Criminal Investigation of the National Police, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri said that his party had uncovered an online gambling case on the 82-78 slot site with a turnover of billions of rupiah. There are 7 suspects, one of whom is a foreign citizen (WNA) from China.
“That in October 2024 we have uncovered the online gambling case of the 82-78 slot site and at that time we arrested 7 suspects consisting of 1 foreigner and 6 Indonesian citizens with a turnover of billions of rupiah,” said Inspector General Asep during a press conference at the National Police Headquarters
Asep said that his party uncovered this case as a commitment of the Police to implement the 7th Asta Cita work program initiated by Prabowo. He said that Asta Cita strengthens political and legal reforms to eradicate corruption, gambling and drugs.
“We are making this effort as a form of our commitment, the Police of course in order to implement the 7th Asta Cita work program initiated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia General (ret.) H Prabowo Subianto, namely strengthening political, legal and bureaucratic reforms and strengthening the prevention and eradication of corruption, gambling, drugs and smuggling,” he said.
