Vietnam’s Preparation and Capital to Face the 2024 AFF Cup

Vietnam showed their preparation ahead of their meeting with the Indonesian national team in the 2024 ASEAN Cup or the 2024 AFF Cup. Vietnam not only won the trial match, but also their strikers were tested against players from South Korea.

Vietnam is in Group B with the Indonesian, Myanmar, Philippines, and Laos national teams in the tournament which will take place from December 8, 2024 to January 5, 2025. Preparation for this event is very serious, with Vietnam undergoing a training camp (TC) in South Korea. Under the direction of coach Kim Sang-sik, the team has undergone TC in the Land of Ginseng to face the Indonesian and Laos national teams.

Nguyen Filip and his colleagues have several agendas, including a trial match to prepare themselves. Kim Sang-sik’s team managed to win a trial match against Ulsan Citizen, a South Korean League 3 club. The match which took place at the Smart Air Dome Stadium, Gyengju on Wednesday (11/27/2024), ended with a score of 2-0 for Vietnam’s victory.

According to a report from Vietnamese media, The Thao247, Vietnam played with a 3-5-2 formation in this trial match. Coach Kim Sang-sik fielded Dinh Trieu, Tien Anh, Thanh Binh, Viet Anh, Duy Manh, Van Khang, Ngoc Tan, Hai Long, Hoang Duc, Vi Hao, and Tien Linh.

Ulsan Citizen tried to take advantage of their physical advantage by playing long balls. However, Vietnam managed to score the first goal through Tien Linh in the 45th minute. In the second half, Kim Sang-sik changed the formation to 4-3-3, and Tuan Hai increased the lead in the 80th minute.

With this victory, Vietnam has positive capital ahead of the match against the Garuda squad. “The fact that both key strikers Tuan Hai and Tien Linh scored goals is a good sign for the Vietnam national team,” wrote The Thao247.
