Community Becomes Vanguard to Maintain Post-Regional Election Conduciveness

Jakarta – The recent simultaneous Regional Election (Pilkada) is an important milestone for democracy in Indonesia. However, the task of maintaining post-Pilkada conduciveness does not stop at vote counting. Community now plays an important role as the vanguard in ensuring social and political stability in each region.
Postgraduate Lecturer at Bina Bangsa Getsempena University (UBBG) Banda Aceh, Dr. Khausar, said that community participation and role in maintaining the post-Pilkada situation is very crucial.

“Community has a primary role in preventing potential conflicts that often arise due to Pilkada results. Differences in political choices should not be a reason to damage unity. In fact, this moment is the right time to rekindle togetherness,” said Khausar.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Domestic Politics Division of the National Unity and Politics Agency (KesbangPol) of Central Kalimantan Province, Mulyo Suharto, emphasized that anyone who advances in the contest during the 2024 simultaneous regional elections at the provincial and district/city levels in Central Kalimantan, is expected to be able to win over their supporters and invites government officials to work together to maintain and prioritize a safer, more stable and conducive atmosphere.

“The conducive atmosphere after the 2024 simultaneous regional elections is expected to remain maintained and conducive so that the movement of the wheels of the economy of the community and the economy of the Central Kalimantan region remains smooth and stable,” he said.

The current calm and stable atmosphere must always be maintained and guarded by all levels of society. On the other hand, the Riau Police Chief, Inspector General Pol Mohammad Iqbal, said that the 2024 Pilkada which ran safely, smoothly, and honestly was a victory for the people of Riau Province. The people of Riau have also shown maturity in democracy.

“Conditions like this are a victory for the people of Riau Province. The people of Riau already understand the meaning of democracy, are very mature in democracy,” said Iqbal.

To encourage further stability, community leaders and local leaders are expected to initiate dialogues that strengthen solidarity in the community.
