Save the Future of the Young Generation, the Government Continues to Intensify Eradication of Online Gambling

Jakarta – The government continues to show its commitment to eradicating online gambling that is disturbing the public. A number of firm steps have been taken to break the chain of digital gambling that threatens the younger generation.

Acting Director General of Public Communication and Media of the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Molly Prabawaty, revealed that her party has blocked hundreds of thousands of content related to online gambling in the past two months.

“From October 20 to December 23, 2024, 163,238 content related to online gambling has been prosecuted,” she explained.

Molly also called on the public to actively report gambling content through the various platforms provided.

The public, added Molly, can report online gambling promotion content via aduankonten.id, WhatsApp service at number 0811-9224-545, and the Stop Online Gambling chatbot at number 0811-1001-5080.

He also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and the community in combating online gambling.

“Together, we can protect our families and communities from the dangers of judol. Let’s build a healthier, more productive, and more prosperous society. Online gambling is a scam,” said Molly.

Until December 2024, Kemkomdigi has cumulatively blocked 5.4 million contents related to online gambling.

“All of that, again, is the result of collaboration. Without it, it would be impossible for us to do it alone,” he added.

Meanwhile, the North Sumatra Regional Police have also succeeded in cracking down on online gambling activities. The Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Hadi Wahyudi, reported the arrest of seven people related to this case in the period from 14 to 22 December 2024.

“Seven people were arrested, consisting of six men and one woman,” explained Hadi.

Hadi added that five of the perpetrators acted as players, while the other two acted as agents.

“The type of online gambling played is slot gambling, a form of digital gambling that is popular but damages the social order,” he said.

During the raid, the police confiscated evidence in the form of four PC units, one CPU, three LCD monitor screens, several mobile phones, and cash.

“These items are concrete evidence of illegal activities that increasingly utilize technology to operate,” said Hadi.

This firm step is expected to save the younger generation from the negative impacts of online gambling and create a better society.
