Sharing Food Becomes TNI’s Way of Building Closeness with Papuan Border Communities

Manokwari, Indonesia – The Infantry Battalion Task Force (Satgas Yonif) Raider 509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad, which is part of the Habema Operations Command (Koops), carried out social communication (komsos) and food distribution in Ndugusiga Village, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua Province, on Monday (13/1/2025).

This activity was carried out in order to support the RI-PNG (Papua New Guinea) Mobile Border Security Operation.

“The initiative of Task Force Yonif 509 Kostrad to carry out Komsos and distribute food supplies to residents of Ndugusiga Village is a form of TNI’s concern in providing assistance for basic community needs, as well as supporting efforts to accelerate development in the Papua region,” said Habema Commander, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, in a statement received on Thursday (16/1/2025).

“Praise God, thank you Commander 509. God bless,” said Agustinus. Commander of Task Force Yonif 509 Kostrad, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Dian Dessiawan Setyadi, added that TNI soldiers have been emphasized to help people in need in their assigned areas. In fact, he said, helping people in need in their assigned areas is something that needs to be done when carrying out the main task of securing the area.

Previously, Koops Habema also held a social activity by teaching national insight to Papuan children on January 3, 2025. This activity was carried out by Task Force Yonif 509 Kostrad from the Koops TNI Habema Unit. In an official press statement received from Satgas Media Habema, several TNI soldiers were seen accompanying Papuan children in reading books.
