The Indonesian government has shown an increasingly strong commitment to eradicating online gambling practices that continue to grow amidst advances in digital technology. This online gambling phenomenon not only has a negative impact on the individuals involved, but also damages the social order of society and is a threat to economic stability. Through various policies and strategic steps, the government is trying to create a deterrent effect and break the chain of this illegal activity. This effort reflects the government’s seriousness in protecting society from the negative influence of online gambling.

The Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, Budi Gunawan, emphasized that severe penalties will be applied to the perpetrators and main actors behind the online gambling network, especially if elements of a criminal act are found. However, he also explained that the government’s approach prioritizes prevention through education and early warning. The education provided aims to increase collective public awareness of the dangers of online gambling, so that it can build community resistance to the temptation of this activity. In addition, connectivity access to online gambling sites and payment systems that support their operations will be limited to cut off the spread of these activities.

The approach taken by the government is not only focused on taking action against individuals, but also targeting the nodes that are the main supporters of online gambling. One of the steps taken is through strict supervision of digital platforms that are often used to promote gambling activities. In addition, the government is working with internet service providers to limit public access to sites that are indicated as online gambling sites. This step is expected to significantly reduce the existence of online gambling in Indonesia.

In addition, the TNI also takes an active role in supporting the eradication of this activity. The TNI Commander, General TNI Agus Subiyanto, emphasized that there is no tolerance for soldiers or TNI civil servants who are involved in online gambling practices, either as players or bookies. The TNI even formed a Task Force for the Prevention, Monitoring, and Action of Soldier Violations to ensure that the integrity of the institution is maintained.

Deputy TNI Major General TNI Alvis Anwar, who serves as the secretary of the task force, emphasized that any violations committed by TNI members will be dealt with firmly in accordance with applicable regulations. He also reminded that the values of the Soldier’s Oath and Sapta Marga must be the mainstay of all TNI members. This message is also a strong warning to anyone who is still trying to get involved in online gambling. Through this approach, the TNI shows its full support for the government in maintaining the morality and honor of the nation.

Prevention through education is one of the main steps taken by the government. Education not only targets individuals, but also vulnerable communities, including the younger generation. This group is often the main target of online gambling promotion because of the ease of access to technology and social media. By providing accurate information about the negative impacts of online gambling, the government hopes to increase public understanding so that they are more alert and able to protect themselves from the dangers of this activity.

In addition, the government also uses a technological approach to track and eradicate online gambling networks. Technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analysis are used to monitor suspicious activities in cyberspace. By utilizing this technology, the government is able to detect transaction and communication patterns that lead to gambling practices. This effort shows that the government does not only rely on conventional law enforcement, but also adapts to modern technological developments to face new challenges.

The severe penalties imposed on online gambling perpetrators are also an important part of this eradication effort. In addition to prison sentences, the government is considering implementing additional sanctions such as freezing bank accounts or blocking access to certain financial services. This measure is designed to cut off the resources that support gambling activities, so that perpetrators cannot continue their activities. This approach is not only intended to create a deterrent effect, but also reduces the risk of the revival of online gambling networks.
