Prabowo – Gibran Government Committed to Realizing Self-Sufficiency with Local Production
Jakarta – The government under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka is committed to realizing food self-sufficiency through optimizing local production, especially in rural areas. One of the concrete steps taken is planting corn seeds in Cisaat Village, Ciater, Subang, as part of the Bangun Desa Festival, Wednesday (15/1).
The Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Kemendes PDT), Yandri Susanto, said that corn is a strategic commodity that is targeted to no longer be imported starting in 2025.
“Therefore, everyone must move in the same direction, namely completing food self-sufficiency initiated by President Prabowo Subianto,” he said.
Yandri also highlighted the great potential of agricultural land in villages that have not been utilized optimally. He encouraged Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) to utilize these lands through a free loan scheme.
“I invite, through this Village Day, we build enthusiasm to achieve food self-sufficiency,” he said.
In addition, the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program is also said to be closely related to food self-sufficiency, where villages are expected to be the main suppliers of raw materials.
“The circulation of money in the village will be very large. Don’t let the village community not feel the benefits of this,” added Yandri.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri), Tito Karnavian emphasized that villages play an important role in supporting food self-sufficiency while improving the economy.
“Villages are encouraged to contribute by utilizing various existing potentials,” said Tito.
He is optimistic that the economic growth target of 8 percent can be achieved if all villages contribute optimally. Tito encouraged village heads to utilize the village revenue and expenditure budget (APBDes) productively.
“The money from the APBN is only a stimulant, only to stimulate, lure so that the village can live, be independent, then the village can progress,” he explained.
Entrepreneurial skills, according to Tito, are an important factor that village heads must have to increase the original village income (PADes). He encouraged the utilization of vacant land, strengthening the food sector, and developing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
“Village heads can also activate village-owned enterprises (BUMDes) to support this,” he added.
Tito hopes that the momentum of the 2025 Village Day Commemoration can be used to evaluate various village development efforts.
“The hopes of the Indonesian nation do not only depend on the central government, but are also in the hands of village heads with support from regional heads,” he concluded.
