President Prabowo to Inaugurate 270 Elected Regional Heads on February 6, 2025

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Bima Arya Sugiarto announced that around 270 elected regional heads from the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections will be inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto on February 6, 2025 at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta.

The inauguration is part of the first inauguration that includes regional heads whose election results are not disputed or have not been challenged at the Constitutional Court (MK).

Bima revealed this through an official statement on Wednesday (22/1/2025), and emphasized that this inauguration will be carried out in accordance with Law Number 10 of 2016, especially Article 164 B which regulates the election of governors, regents, and mayors.

“God willing, Mr. Prabowo will inaugurate in accordance with Law Number 10 of 2016 Article 164 B,” said Bima.

In addition, Bima also added that the pair of governor and deputy governor of DKI Jakarta who were elected in the 2024 Pilkada, namely Pramono Anung and Rano Karno, will also be inaugurated by President Prabowo at the same event.

Bima Arya explained that the inauguration of regional heads will be carried out in three waves or terms. The first wave is for regional heads whose elections are not disputed, the second wave is for regional heads whose election results are rejected or canceled, and the third wave is for regional heads whose election results are accepted which then require a re-vote or re-election.

“The inauguration schedule for the two groups of regional heads whose election results are still disputed will be adjusted to the results of the Constitutional Court hearing or the results of the re-election,” said Bima.

Bima added that the first inauguration will be carried out on February 6, 2025, while the next wave will be adjusted to the results of the Constitutional Court hearing which will be decided when it will be completed.

Bima also said that the inauguration schedule had been agreed upon between the government and the Indonesian House of Representatives, and had been reported by the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, to President Prabowo at a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday (22/1/2025).

“The Minister of Home Affairs has reported to the President. The President responded well. It was reported that this has been unanimously approved in the DPR,” Bima added.
