Appreciation of Government Steps in Law Enforcement in Corruption Cases
Jakarta – The government has once again demonstrated its commitment to eradicating corruption through firm and progressive steps in law enforcement. This effort deserves appreciation as part of the long journey towards clean, transparent, and integrity-based governance.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) expressed its full support for the government’s commitment to strengthening efforts to eradicate corruption, which is stated in the vision and mission of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
“By making the KPK a center of excellence in efforts to eradicate corruption, the KPK is ready to work closely in prevention through anti-corruption education at various levels of education, as well as increasing synergy with the private and public sectors,” said KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto.
This government step was demonstrated through the Attorney General’s Office’s Intelligence Reform and Innovation Task Force (SIRI) Team successfully arresting a fugitive in a corruption case involving coal transportation financing.
According to the Head of the Attorney General’s Office’s Legal Information Center Harli Siregar, the policy not only provides a deterrent effect on the perpetrators, but also fosters public trust in the legal system in Indonesia.
“The arrests by the SIRI team are a follow-up to the appeal of Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin who asked his staff to monitor and arrest fugitives who are still at large in order to be executed for the sake of legal certainty.” Harli said
Legal observer Masriadi Pasaribu appreciated the performance of the Attorney General’s Office under the command of Attorney General ST Burhanuddin.
“We really appreciate the performance of the Attorney General’s Office, in the last four years the performance of the Attorney General’s Office has been quite brilliant, the Attorney General’s Office even dared to target cases ready in the judicial institution.” said Marsasdi
In this case, the government is expected to continue to maintain transparency and independence in handling every corruption case, without discrimination. In addition, support from the community is needed to strengthen the agenda for sustainable corruption eradication.
Hopefully this step will not be important in building a clean and highly competitive Indonesia in the eyes of the world.
