Collaboration with Academics, Government Encourages Creative Economy in 100 Days of Prabowo-Gibran Administration
Jakarta – In order to commemorate 100 days of Prabowo-Gibran administration, the Indonesian government is strengthening its commitment to support the creative economy sector through collaboration between educational institutions and the industrial sector.
This step is expected to increase national economic growth and expand the distribution of public welfare in various regions. One important initiative is the signing of a Joint Memorandum of Understanding (NKB) between the University of Indonesia (UI) and the Ministry of Creative Economy on January 22, 2025 at the UI Vocational Auditorium, Depok.
UI Chancellor, Heri Hermansyah, expressed his pride in this strategic collaboration which is in line with the vision of the new government.
“UI, through our eight vocational study programs, is ready to support the development of creative and innovative human resources. This synergy proves that the world of education is able to play a direct role in advancing Indonesia’s creative economy sector,” said Heri.
Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, stated that this collaboration is an important milestone in realizing President Prabowo’s direction.
“President Prabowo emphasized that the creative economy sector must become a new driver of the national economy. We believe that synergy with academics such as UI will have a real impact on society,” he explained.
During the 100 days of government, the government has initiated various strategic steps to accelerate the development of the creative economy in the regions. One of them is the “creative city” initiative based on local potential, which is carried out as a strategy to create an inclusive creative ecosystem.
In November 2024, the Ministry of Creative Economy in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs launched a special program aimed at opening new jobs and strengthening the local economy.
“The government continues to facilitate the formation of creative spaces throughout Indonesia, so that they can become centers of collaborative activities for the government, business actors, academics, and creative communities. In this way, the creative economy can make a greater contribution to economic equality,” added Teuku Riefky.
This government step has received appreciation from various parties as a concrete form of the Prabowo-Gibran government’s efforts to strengthen the creativity-based economy.
With strong synergy between the government, educational institutions, and the private sector, the creative economy sector is expected to be the backbone of an inclusive, innovative, and sustainable national economy. []
