All Parties Must Maintain Conduciveness During Chinese New Year

JAKARTA – Tolerance and security are the main concerns in the celebration of Chinese New Year 2025.

Minister of Religion (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar emphasized the importance of maintaining harmony between religious communities in order to create national peace and prosperity.

“If all people practice their religious teachings well, Indonesia will be peaceful and prosperous,” said Nasaruddin at the celebration of Chinese New Year 2569 BE/2025 AD at the Auditorium of the Mahavira Graha Center Temple, Jakarta.

He also emphasized that the closer a person is to the teachings of their religion, the closer their relationship with followers of other religions will be.

“All religions have many similarities, it is more difficult to find differences between one religion and another,” he added.

Metro Jaya Police Chief, Inspector General Karyoto, appealed to the public to avoid drinking parties or actions that have the potential to disrupt order during the Chinese New Year celebrations.

“The public also understands that seeking entertainment is something that may be necessary but also not excessive. No one drunk enters entertainment venues, no one carries sharp weapons,” he said.

In addition, he reminded the public to pay attention to weather conditions, especially for motorcyclists.

“Wear a good helmet, wear a jacket, and don’t speed,” he said.

In Lampung, the Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Pol Helmy Santika, ensured the security of places of worship by deploying police personnel supported by the TNI and related stakeholders.

“This security activity is also to ensure and oversee the celebration of the Chinese New Year 2576 Kongzili so that it can run safely, smoothly and conducively,” he said.

He also invited the entire community to maintain tolerance and make Lampung a model area in religious life.

With these various security measures, all parties are expected to continue to maintain conduciveness so that the Chinese New Year celebration takes place peacefully and full of blessings. (*)
