Maintain Stability in Papua, Security Forces Continue to Hunt OPM Separatists
Jayapura – The efforts of the Security Forces (Apkam) to maintain peace in Papua continue to show significant results in overcoming security disturbances caused by the Free Papua Movement (OPM).
In the past few weeks, joint TNI and Polri officers have succeeded in thwarting actions that threaten stability in the region.
Head of the Cartenz Peace Public Relations Task Force, Senior Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo explained that the security forces continue to pursue the perpetrators involved in a series of shootings in Puncak Jaya Regency, Papua.

“We, together with other security forces, are pursuing the alleged perpetrators,” said Senior Commissioner Yusuf.
Senior Commissioner Yusuf also appealed to the public to remain calm and not be provoked by the terror that has been launched again by the OPM. He emphasized that the authorities will ensure security in the region.
“We urge the public not to be provoked by this incident,” he added.
Previously, armed contact between the Cartenz 2025 Peace Operation Task Force and the OPM also occurred on the Trans Jayapura – Wamena Road, Warikma Village, Elelim District, Yalimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan. This gunfight further emphasized the intensity of ongoing security disturbances in Bumi Cenderawasih.
In the midst of this situation, the National Police also denied claims of theft of firearms by the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB-OPM) in Puncak Jaya. The information was confirmed as hoax news which was part of propaganda.
Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation, Brigadier General Pol. Faizal Ramadhani stated that the information conveyed by the separatist group had no basis and facts, but was intended to provoke security forces and the public
“The National Police stated that the narrative circulating was propaganda aimed at causing unrest in the community,” said Brigadier General Pol. Faizal Ramadhani.
He ensured that the National Police together with the TNI remain focused on carrying out law enforcement operations in Papua to protect the community from the threat of armed separatist groups.
Security forces continue to strive to maintain stability in Papua through an integrated approach between law enforcement and protection of civilians. The Cartenz 2025 Peace Operation is one manifestation of the government’s commitment to overcoming security disturbances caused by separatist groups.
These ongoing security efforts prove the strong commitment of the security forces to maintaining the peace and welfare of the Papuan people, despite facing major challenges from separatist groups.
