Indonesia Introduces KIA Law at Child Rights Summit
House Speaker Puan Maharani will attend the World Leaders’ Summit on Children’s Rights in Rome, Italy. She will introduce the Maternal and Child Welfare Law (UU KIA) in a forum attended by a number of state leaders.
“Indonesia has the KIA Law as a first step. Hopefully we can learn from each other to bring goodness to children in our respective countries,” said Puan in her written statement, Saturday (1/2/2025).
Puan stated that the KIA Law as a legislative product has ensured and guaranteed the fulfillment of the rights of Indonesian children and women. According to her, the strength of the state and the quality of Human Resources (HR) are determined starting from a good family environment since childhood.
“The mission is how we can fulfill children’s rights. (This-ed) includes the right to education, protection from violence and fulfillment of rights within the family,” she said.
Puan’s visit to Rome, Italy, with the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri, arrived on Friday (31/1/2024) local time. The arrival of Puan and Megawati was welcomed by the Indonesian Ambassador to the Holy See, Vatican Michael Trias Kuncahyono.
