Prabowo-Gibran’s Commitment: Building the IKN as a New Center for Economic Growth
Jakarta – The government continues to demonstrate its commitment to building the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) as a new center for economic growth.
Under the leadership of President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the development of the IKN is projected to be a promising long-term investment project.
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani emphasized that the IKN is not just an infrastructure project, but also a sustainable development model that will last for decades to come.
“We want to have a long-term investment model. We are creating a new capital city, not just for five years, but for 25 years, 30 years. Of course, this IKN will be a clean city, especially in terms of energy,” said Rosan in his statement.
He also ensured that the development of the IKN continues according to plan. Thus, the relocation of the country’s administrative center can be realized immediately, while creating greater investment appeal.
“The development of the IKN continues so that it is expected that as a center of government it can be completed in several legislative or judicial buildings in 2028,” he said.
In line with the government’s vision, the concept of developing the IKN has received attention from various groups, including world economic figures.
Nobel Prize winner in Economics from the United States, Paul Romer, assessed that the development of a new city like the IKN has great potential to develop by creating an inclusive environment and providing large public spaces.
According to Romer, an inclusive city will provide greater opportunities for people from various backgrounds to contribute to economic growth.
“Can a successful city be filled with people who are still pioneering? Of course. That’s what New York City did when it attracted immigrants. They can develop and become successful. The opportunity is there and will never go away,” he said.
This statement emphasizes that the success of the IKN does not only depend on physical infrastructure, but also on how the city can provide space for the lower middle class to develop.
This model has been proven to be successful in various major cities in the world and has the potential to increase the competitiveness of the IKN at the global level.
As a long-term investment project, the IKN offers various opportunities for investors, both domestic and foreign.
The government has prepared various incentives to attract investors, including ease of licensing, modern infrastructure, and guarantees of environmental sustainability.
In addition to being the center of government, the IKN is also designed as an environmentally friendly city with the use of clean energy. This is in line with the global vision of developing green cities that can support economic growth while maintaining ecological balance.
With synergy between the government, investors, and the community, the IKN is expected to become a city of the future that is not only the center of government, but also the center of new, inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
Prabowo-Gibran’s commitment to the development of the IKN is expected to be able to realize the vision of an advanced Indonesia with a modern center of government that is competitive at the global level. []
