Business World Supports Prabowo-Gibran’s Steps in Increasing National Food Production
Jakarta – Deputy Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Helvi Moraza emphasized the importance of the role of 29 million MSMEs in the agriculture and fisheries sectors in realizing national food security.
This is in line with the vision of the Prabowo-Gibran government which is committed to increasing national food production by involving the business world, especially MSMEs.
“Of the total agricultural MSMEs, 99 percent of them are individual businesses, while the rest consist of 0.02 percent of legal entities and 0.04 percent of other businesses. This figure shows that this sector is the backbone of national food security,” said Deputy Minister Helvi Moraza in his statement.
The Ministry of MSMEs continues to encourage the optimization of the KUR distribution target of 60 percent for the productive sector.
Currently, of the total distribution of IDR 282.44 trillion, only 57.81 percent or IDR 163.28 trillion has been distributed to the productive sector.
The government is also boosting the KUR Klaster and KUR Alsintan programs as a strategic step to increase the productivity of the agricultural sector.
“This program aims to encourage real economic growth, increase the added value of local products, and reduce dependence on the trade sector,” said Helvi.
The Deputy Minister of UMKM also invited all parties to work together to strengthen the role of UMKM in the food sector.
“With solid collaboration, we are able to create strong food security while improving the welfare of UMKM actors,” he said.
In line with the government’s efforts to strengthen food security, Minister of UMKM Maman Abdurrahman highlighted the role of UMKM as a strategic partner in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.
This program supports UMKM with capital financing of up to IDR 500 million so that they can purchase raw materials.
“On condition of obtaining a letter of appointment from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), the bank will provide initial financing of up to IDR 500 million to help MSMEs purchase raw materials,” said Maman in Jakarta.
Support for this program also came from a member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia for the Jakarta Special Region Electoral District, Fahira Idris.
According to her, the MBG program not only provides great opportunities for MSMEs to develop, but also contributes to improving community nutrition and local economic growth.
“I appreciate the government’s plan to provide capital to MSMEs involved in the MBG program. The MBG program is a great opportunity for MSMEs to not only develop, but also make a real contribution to improving community nutrition and economic growth,” explained Fahira in her release.
With these strategic steps, the business world, especially MSMEs, plays an important role in supporting national food security. []
