Budget efficiency implemented by the government is a strategy to optimize state resources without sacrificing public services, especially in the education and health sectors.

President Prabowo Subianto has approved this policy with the guarantee that budget adjustments will not reduce the quality of basic services for the community. Through appropriate savings, the government aims to create a more efficient financial system without disrupting priority national development programs.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati emphasized that the budget cuts of IDR 306.69 trillion in the 2025 State Budget and Regional Budget are not a form of reducing public access to education and health, but rather a systematic effort to avoid waste and budget leaks. Savings of IDR 256.1 trillion in ministries and institutions and IDR 50.59 trillion in transfers to regions were carried out while maintaining program stability and sustainability.

The government ensures that this efficiency is directed at optimizing spending without sacrificing essential services for the community. Thus, budget efficiency becomes a tool to strengthen the national economy while eradicating poverty through more productive management.

In the education sector, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti ensured that this efficiency policy would not hinder the implementation of strategic programs such as School Operational Assistance (BOS), Smart Indonesia Program (PIP), and teacher certification allowances.

Budget adjustments were made by streamlining spending in the travel sector, ceremonial events, and procurement of printed materials to ensure that the allocation of funds remains focused on improving the quality of education. This budget reform is not just a savings measure, but also an opportunity to manage education finances more efficiently for the sake of equalizing services throughout Indonesia.

In addition to education, the budget efficiency policy also has an impact on the health sector. Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the DPR Yahya Zaini emphasized that budget cuts in the Ministry of Health would not hinder the free health check program for the community. Health centers and polyclinics remain at the forefront in detecting and preventing health problems early on. BPJS Kesehatan also plays a role in supporting this program so that its coverage and effectiveness increase. Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin added that a comprehensive evaluation would be carried out to ensure that the budget reallocation continues to guarantee the sustainability of priority programs. With careful planning and strict supervision, this efficiency will actually improve the national health system without lowering service standards.

The government emphasized that budget efficiency is carried out with a careful and targeted approach, so that the public continues to receive quality education and health services.

More disciplined financial management is expected to increase the effectiveness of public programs, provide direct benefits to the public, and reduce the potential for waste. This step also supports sustainable economic growth by ensuring that every rupiah in the state budget is used optimally.

In addition, the budget efficiency policy also encourages transparency and accountability in the management of state finances. With strict supervision, the public can see real improvements in the various services provided by the government.

The synergy between budget efficiency and improving the quality of services in the education and health sectors shows that fiscal reform can go hand in hand with public welfare. The government is not only trying to reduce waste, but also open up opportunities for a more inclusive and sustainable economic transformation.

Through continuous evaluation and strategic adjustments, the government is confident that the budget efficiency policy will have a positive impact on national development.

With cross-sector coordination involving ministries, institutions, and local governments, this efficiency will produce synergy in the use of the state budget. The results are expected to increase the effectiveness of public services and ensure the sustainability of essential programs.

The government understands that in facing global economic challenges, budget efficiency is not only a rational step but also a strategic need. With a systematic approach, this reform will help Indonesia remain competitive in the global arena without sacrificing public welfare.
