Budget Efficiency Goals, So That Economic Growth Remains High and Budget Use is More Optimal

Jakarta – President Prabowo has issued Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 1 of 2025 concerning Spending Efficiency. The Inpres asks Ministries/Institutions and Regions to cut spending that is considered to have an impact on improving the economy and welfare.

Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas), Rachmat Pambudy said that his party continues to be committed to maintaining high economic growth, even though there is budget efficiency. Ministries/Institutions should also utilize non-APBN financing sources, such as grants and foreign investment.

“The Ministry of PPN/Bappenas is obliged to maintain high economic growth, even though there is a budget transfer. Development budgets that are not included in the APBN are important,” said Rachmat.

Meanwhile, Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo said that budget efficiency does not affect the performance of the PU Ministry in developing the country. The infrastructure development program of the Ministry of Public Works in the 2025 Fiscal Year (FY) has been well-arranged, so it will not disrupt or even stop the ongoing infrastructure work.

“The Ministry of Public Works is used to building, so our big goal is that whatever we build must be completed. So nothing should be stalled because that is not our standard, more or less,” said Dody.

On the other hand, Economist and Public Policy Expert of UPN Veteran Jakarta, Achmad Nur Hidayat assessed that the budget efficiency policy instructed by President Prabowo Subianto is the first step in more optimal state financial management.

“The implementation of this policy must be carried out with the right strategy so as not to hinder the performance of ministries and government programs that have been previously designed,” he said. .

It is hoped that this efficiency can provide direct benefits to the community. Funds from budget savings should be allocated to strengthen people’s welfare programs, such as social assistance and energy subsidies.

“This policy will help suppress inflation and maintain the stability of basic necessities prices, so that the public is not burdened by price increases caused by overly tight fiscal policies,” he concluded.
