Budget Efficiency is the Right Step to Improve the Quality of State Spending

Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of budget efficiency in every aspect of government to ensure more optimal management of state finances. This policy has received broad support from various groups, including academics, political observers, and state officials who consider this step to be the right strategy in strengthening fiscal stability and the effectiveness of the use of public funds.

Economist and Public Policy Expert from the National Development University (UPN) Jakarta, Achmad Nur Hidayat, assessed that the budget efficiency policy is a strategic initial step in improving state financial governance. According to him, this policy not only aims to reduce unproductive spending, but also ensures that every budget issued has a greater impact on the community. “The budget efficiency policy instructed by President Prabowo Subianto is the initial step in more optimal management of state finances. Budget efficiency will also have an impact on optimizing the use of available funds,” he said.

One aspect that is often in the spotlight in the use of the state budget is the cost of official travel and work visits. Executive Director of Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO), Dedi Kurnia Syah, assessed that state spending so far has been filled with ceremonial activities that are considered less productive. He welcomed the efficiency steps implemented in this aspect, considering that much of the budget that has been allocated for working visits and ceremonial activities has not had a significant impact on improving bureaucratic performance. “So far, the portion of working visits has been more ceremonial and indeed seems to be a waste of budget. So, it is very good if there are efficiency efforts from these two activities,” he said.

In line with that, Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar ensured that the budget efficiency policy will not hinder the implementation of the work programs of ministries and institutions. In fact, efficiency can be an opportunity to design new strategies in more effective and targeted budget management. “Budget efficiency will not hinder the work program, and can be used as an opportunity to create new options in efficient budget management,” he explained.

This budget efficiency step is expected to be part of the government’s efforts to improve the quality of state spending. By ensuring that every rupiah spent has a high benefit value, this policy will support the achievement of more equitable and sustainable development. In addition, budget efficiency also plays a role in maintaining fiscal stability so that national economic policies continue to run well amidst dynamic global challenges.{}
