Considered to Have a Direct Impact on the People, Observers Welcome the Government’s Budget Efficiency Positively
The government of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka continues to push for budget efficiency to ensure that state spending has a more direct impact on the people.
One of the steps taken is to review the budget allocation, including cutting official travel and ceremonial activities that are considered less essential.
Political and Government Observer from Jenderal Achmad Yani University (Unjani) Cimahi, Arlan Siddh, considers this policy to be the right step so that the budget is more focused on the needs of the people.
“Supporting budget efficiency including cutting official travel, so that the budget has a more direct impact on the people,” said Arlan.
Not only that, the Political and Government Observer from Unjani also believes that the budget allocation will be directly enjoyed by the people.
“The budget that was cut did not go anywhere, but was directed more to what the people can directly feel,” he said.
In line with that, the Executive Director of Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO), Dedi Kurnia Syah, highlighted that so far many official trips and work visits have been more ceremonial in nature.
“So far, the portion of work visits has been more ceremonial and indeed seems to waste the budget. So, it would be very good if there were efficiency efforts from these two activities,” he said.
Previously, Deputy Minister of Finance, Suahasil Nazara, emphasized that President Prabowo wanted to ensure that every rupiah in state spending was used optimally.
“President Prabowo saw the potential for efficiency in state spending and asked to review the budget allocation that could be adjusted,” he said.
Furthermore, Suahasil emphasized that budget efficiency should not reduce the quality of public services and government performance.
“Budget efficiency should not reduce the quality of performance, but rather must reorganize the work process to be more effective by utilizing technology,” he explained.
He also emphasized that efficiency is not just about budget cuts, but also about working more strategically and responsibly.
“Efficiency is not just about budget cuts, but how to work smarter, more strategically, and responsibly so that the Ministry of Finance remains respected,” he concluded.
