The Free Nutritious Meal Program is a solution that is expected to reduce stunting rates in Indonesia. With initiatives supported by various parties, this program is designed to ensure that children get sufficient nutritional intake to support optimal growth.
Not only that, this program also has an impact on the economic sector by involving local farmers and ranchers in providing nutritious food. The community is also invited to be more aware of the importance of consuming healthy food as a long-term investment for future generations.
Head of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives Ashabul Kahfi, emphasized that children’s intelligence is greatly influenced by adequate nutritional intake. Healthy and intelligent children will grow into creative individuals who can compete in the future. Lack of nutrition not only affects health, but also hinders the competitiveness of the younger generation in economic aspects.
He also highlighted that other countries, such as Japan, have succeeded in building achievements in various fields, including sports, thanks to their attention to nutritional quality and technology. This is a valuable lesson for Indonesia to focus more on improving the nutritional quality of children.
Ashabul Kahfi also highlighted the eating patterns of people who still pay little attention to nutritional balance. He said that the habit of consuming fast food and instant products with minimal nutritional content is still a challenge in society.
In fact, nutritious food sources are abundant in rural areas, but are often not utilized properly. Therefore, nutritional education is very important so that people are more aware of the importance of a healthy diet.
This program is expected to improve community welfare while driving the economy. By involving local farmers and livestock breeders in providing food ingredients such as eggs, rice, and fish, economic growth in the region can also increase. Therefore, the Free Nutritious Meal program not only aims to educate children, but also strengthen the local and national economic sectors.
Support for this program also came from various regions, one of which was Sampang Regency. Acting (Pj.) Regent of Sampang, Rudi Arifyanto, stated that this program is very relevant in improving community welfare, especially in areas that are still facing economic and nutritional challenges.
On this occasion, he emphasized that the Free Nutritious Meal program has enormous benefits, especially for children who need optimal nutritional support for their growth and development. Rudi also highlighted that the success of this program must be supported seriously so that it can have a positive impact on increasing the Human Development Index (HDI) in the area.
In addition to its benefits in the nutrition sector, this program is also expected to strengthen the local economy by ensuring the availability of sufficient food supplies. Collaboration between local governments and various related parties is the key to the success of implementing this program. If carried out optimally, not only will the quality of life of the community improve, but the economy in the region can also grow rapidly.
Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono emphasized that this program is a concrete strategy to reduce poverty in Indonesia. With the injection of funds of IDR 6 to IDR 7 billion into villages receiving assistance, it is hoped that a new economic dynamic will be created.
The funds can be used to support the production, distribution, and consumption of nutritious food that can strengthen the local economy. The main focus of this program is to provide nutritious food to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children under five years old (toddlers), so that they get sufficient nutritional intake to grow optimally.
Furthermore, Agus Jabo emphasized that improving nutritional quality also contributes to the creation of Indonesia’s Golden Generation in 2045. President Prabowo Subianto wants to see Indonesia free from poverty quickly, and this program is a concrete step in this effort. Various other initiatives, such as the Family Hope Program (PKH), also continue to be strengthened to empower communities and eradicate poverty as a whole.
The success of the Free Nutritious Meals program will depend greatly on the synergy between the government, the community, and the local economic sector. In addition to ensuring that children get adequate nutrition, this program also has the potential to create a market for local products that can be produced by village communities. Thus, the resulting economic impact will be widespread, providing new opportunities for farmers and micro-entrepreneurs at the village level.
