Government Assists in the Transition of 3 Kg LPG Gas Traders to Sub-Depots

Jakarta – The government continues to reform the 3 kg LPG distribution system to improve efficiency and target accuracy of energy subsidies. One of the strategic steps taken is to transfer the status of 3 kg LPG gas traders to sub-bases. This effort aims to create a more organized, transparent distribution, and reduce the potential for misuse of subsidies.

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, stated that his party has reactivated the sale of 3 kg LPG through retailers who now have the status of official sub-bases.

“There are at least 375 thousand retailers whose status has been upgraded to sub-bases. With this change, the distribution of subsidized LPG will be more targeted and the price will remain affordable,” said Bahlil.

Meanwhile, Area Manager of Communication, Relations, & Corporate Social Responsibility for Central Java of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Taufiq Kurniawan, said that his party had increased the allocation of 3 kg LPG by more than 900,000 cylinders in Central Java and DI Yogyakarta to anticipate the increasing needs of the community.

“Pertamina has increased the allocation of more than 900,000 3 kg LPG cylinders for Central Java and Yogyakarta, to anticipate the increasing needs of the community,” said Taufiq.

Similarly, Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco, emphasized that the checking of the distribution of 3 kg LPG is carried out periodically.

“After the checking, everything went smoothly, so there were no more queues to purchase 3 kg LPG,” said Dasco.

The change in the status of 3 kg LPG gas traders to sub-bases certainly has various positive impacts. With direct access to official distribution, they can avoid losses due to illegal practices. Meanwhile, for the government, a more organized distribution system allows control of the amount of 3 kg LPG in circulation so that subsidies are right on target.

This transition process involves stages that must be met by traders, including infrastructure readiness and official registration in a more structured distribution system. The government is working with Pertamina and related agencies to draft regulations and provide guidance for traders who want to switch to sub-bases.

The government also continues to monitor the implementation of this policy and conducts periodic evaluations so that the system runs according to its objectives. The public is also encouraged to participate in supervising the distribution of 3 kg LPG so that the subsidy is truly received by those entitled.
