President Prabowo Affirms Budget Efficiency to Maximize Priority Programs and Productive Sectors
Jakarta – The government has affirmed its commitment to optimizing the use of the State Budget through a strategic budget efficiency policy. The policy outlined in Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025 stipulates a budget cut of IDR306.69 trillion in 2025, with the main objective of diverting funds to productive sectors.
In an effort to explain the direction of the policy, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati emphasized that this efficiency measure is part of the government’s strategy to increase the competitiveness of the national economy.
“Funds from efficiency will be allocated for productive spending that supports economic growth and industrialization,” said Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
Sri Mulyani explained that every rupiah saved must have a direct impact on the community. She added that the reallocation of funds will not only accelerate infrastructure development, but also improve the quality of public services.
“We are committed to ensuring that every rupiah saved has a direct positive impact on the community, especially in improving the health sector and infrastructure development,” said Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
Minister of PANRB Rini Widyantini also emphasized that the budget efficiency policy by highlighting the role of digital transformation in minimizing operational expenses. In her narrative, Rini emphasized the importance of technological innovation in accelerating bureaucratic reform and increasing work effectiveness in every line of government.
“Digital transformation will be optimized to increase the efficiency of state apparatus work and reduce operational costs, without reducing bureaucratic reform efforts,” said Rini Widyantini.
Rini said that the use of information technology allows the government to coordinate better between work units. She highlighted how the implementation of a digital system can accelerate public services and ensure that operational expenses are at an efficient level.
“The use of information technology in the work system allows us to minimize operational expenses and accelerate the public service process, so that the state budget can be used more optimally,” said Rini Widyantini.
In terms of supervision and policy analysis, the Executive Director of Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO), Dedi Kurnia Syah, emphasized that previously many ceremonial work visit activities actually took up a portion of the budget that was not comparable to the benefits generated.
“So far, ceremonial working visits have drained the budget, so this efficiency step is very appropriate to divert funds to more productive activities,” said Dedi Kurnia Syah.
Furthermore, Dedi emphasized the importance of budget efficiency as a strategic step that not only saves costs, but also strengthens national economic growth. He hopes that this policy can be a reference for other agencies in managing the budget more wisely and have a positive impact on public welfare.
“Budget efficiency is a crucial step to ensure that every fund spent has a real impact on national economic growth and improving people’s welfare,” said Dedi Kurnia Syah.
With these strategic steps, the government is trying to ensure that every rupiah of the APBN is used optimally and on target. This budget efficiency policy is believed to be able to encourage accelerated development, improve public services, and strengthen Indonesia’s economic position amidst global dynamics.
