President Prabowo Subianto Implements Budget Efficiency to Ensure Targeted Use of Public Money

Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto has taken a strategic step in managing state finances by implementing a budget efficiency policy. This policy aims to ensure that the use of public money is more targeted and has a direct impact on society and national economic growth.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati explained that the decision on budget efficiency was taken after President Prabowo supervised the closing of the State Budget (APBN) at the Ministry of Finance at the end of 2024. “The use of the APBN must be focused on direct benefits for society and strengthening the national economy,” said Sri Mulyani.

Furthermore, she emphasized that this efficiency includes reducing spending that is considered less productive, such as budgets for ceremonies, official travel, and maintenance. “These savings will be allocated for productive spending that can drive economic growth and industrialization,” she added.

Observers consider this step a positive signal for more accountable state financial governance. By reducing less productive spending and allocating funds to more strategic sectors, it is hoped that Indonesia can continue to drive inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

This policy also received support from various parties, including economist and public policy expert from UPN Jakarta, Achmad Nur Hidayat. He said that President Prabowo’s steps were the beginning of more optimal state financial management. “Budget efficiency is not only saving funds, but also ensuring that every rupiah spent truly provides maximum benefits for the community,” he said.

At the regional level, the budget efficiency policy is also implemented through the optimization of the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD). Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto emphasized that this step aims to improve the quality of spending without reducing benefits for the community. “The Transfer Budget to the Regions has also been adjusted to be more in favor of underdeveloped regions, including island regions,” he said.

With this efficiency step, the government is expected to be able to increase the effectiveness of budget use, strengthen economic stability, and ensure that every fund allocated truly has a real impact on the community. This policy marks President Prabowo’s commitment to maintaining accountability and transparency in the use of state funds for the welfare of the people.
