Transformation of Subsidized Fertilizer in the Era of President Prabowo, Farmers No Longer Hampered by Regulations
JAKARTA – The government of President Prabowo Subianto has carried out a major transformation in the distribution system of subsidized fertilizers.
Regulations that were previously considered complicated have been simplified, ensuring that farmers can more easily obtain fertilizer at affordable prices.
This step is part of the government’s strategy to achieve food self-sufficiency and reduce dependence on imports.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture (Wamentan) Sudaryono emphasized that the Prabowo-Gibran government is committed to improving the agricultural sector.
He stated that the government is ensuring the availability of fertilizers, extension workers, irrigation, and seeds in order to increase national food production.
“Food self-sufficiency is not only about rice, but also other commodities. Rice, God willing, will be finished this year. Corn is finished, sugar is finished,” he said.
“Next, we focus on other commodities that are still imported such as milk, meat, garlic, or soybeans. According to the President’s direction, we will complete everything,” said Sudaryono
Head of the Substance Group of the Directorate of Fertilizer and Pesticides, Directorate General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities, Syah Deva Ammurabi, emphasized that fertilizer subsidies aim to provide access for farmers at more affordable prices and ensure the availability of fertilizer to remote areas.
“Currently, to redeem subsidized fertilizer, you only need to use your KTP or Farmer Card/Digital Farmer Card through the iPubers application,” explained Syah Deva.
Head of the Agricultural Extension and Human Resources Development Agency (BPPSDMP), Idha Widi Arsanti, said that the government is currently encouraging the role of farmer groups as points of delivery for subsidized fertilizer.
“What is encouraged together can provide benefits for farmers,” said Idha.
With various policies implemented, the government is optimistic that Indonesia can become a food independent country and play an important role in the global food market. (*)
