Effective Inter-Agency Synergy in Drug Eradication
Jakarta – Drug eradication in Indonesia requires close collaboration between law enforcement agencies to be able to tackle drug trafficking comprehensively. One example of synergy that is being implemented is between the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).
The Head of BNN, Marthinus Hukom, emphasized the importance of PPATK’s role in combating money laundering related to drug networks.
“We have asked PPATK as the head of the TPPU Task Force to optimize the impoverishment of drug network perpetrators,” said Marthinus.
With strong synergy, this task force is expected to be able to break the financial chain that is the source of strength for the drug business.
Not only that, drug eradication efforts also involve various parties such as investigators, prosecutors, and banking parties who work together in analyzing the financial transactions of dealers.
Marthinus added that although the discourse on impoverishment has been around for a long time, its implementation has not been optimal because drug dealers are still trying to hide their assets.
With more intensive collaboration, it is hoped that the deep-rooted drug business can be eradicated more effectively.
Synergy between institutions is also seen in the eradication steps taken by the Banyuwangi Penitentiary (Lapas) and the Banyuwangi Regency National Narcotics Agency (BNNK).
The Head of Banyuwangi Prison, Mochamad Mukaffi, conveyed the importance of coordination with BNNK to monitor drug trafficking in the prison.
“Banyuwangi Prison currently houses many inmates involved in drug cases. Therefore, we continue to strive to maintain security and order in the prison,” said Mukaffi.
He also said that proactive steps taken by the prison in maintaining stability and avoiding further involvement with drugs are very important.
Mukaffi explained that by sharing information, the two agencies can work together to prevent and overcome the increasingly rampant illicit drug trafficking.
Head of Banyuwangi BNNK, Senior Commissioner Faisol Wahyudi, expressed his appreciation for the synergy that has been established.
“Synergy between BNNK and the prison is the main key to realizing a Banyuwangi free from drugs,” said Faisol.
By increasing cross-sector cooperation, it is hoped that drug eradication efforts will be more optimal and focused.
The synergy between various law enforcement agencies shows that drug eradication cannot be done alone. Only with solid cooperation can more effective prevention and enforcement measures be implemented to stop the circulation of drugs that are destroying the nation.
