Government and Private Sector Synergy Supports the Success of the Free Nutritious Meal Program
Jakarta – The government of President Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka continues to realize the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) in various regions of Indonesia. President Prabowo emphasized his commitment to running this program to ensure that Indonesian children receive nutritious food intake, in line with the government’s efforts to improve the quality of human resources.
The MBG program has been running since January 6, 2025 with a pilot scheme in several regions, and is now in the expansion stage so that all beneficiaries can immediately feel its impact. As one of the flagship programs that has been designed since the campaign period, MBG aims to ensure adequate access to nutrition for school children and vulnerable groups. The government targets this program to improve the health, competitiveness, and welfare of Indonesia’s young generation.
The Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, emphasized the high enthusiasm of the community for this program, which has received widespread attention from the start. According to him, the MBG program is highly anticipated by the community because of its real benefits in supporting the growth and achievements of Indonesian children.
“Free Nutritious Meals is a program that has long been awaited by the public. The government is committed to ensuring that its implementation runs smoothly and reaches all beneficiaries,” said Vice President Gibran.
In line with that, the government continues to evaluate and refine the program mechanism to make it more effective and on target. Vice President Gibran also invited the public to participate in ensuring that this program runs optimally.
The MBG program is not just food assistance, but also a long-term investment in creating a healthier, smarter, and more competitive generation. The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Muhadjir Effendy, stated that this program is in line with national efforts to reduce stunting rates and improve the quality of education by fulfilling the nutritional needs of school children.
“The MBG program is a concrete step by the government in improving the quality of human resources from an early age. With sufficient nutritional intake, children will be better prepared to face future challenges,” said Coordinating Minister for PMK Muhadjir Effendy.
Meanwhile, hundreds of elementary school students on Pari Island, Seribu Islands Regency, have enjoyed the benefits of the MBG program supported by the Indonesian Women Entrepreneurs Association (IWAPI). The Head of the IWAPI Seribu Islands DPC, Nurlaila, explained that her party supports the government program by distributing nutritious food to school children and breastfeeding mothers.
“We distributed 450 nutritious foods to school children and breastfeeding mothers as a form of IWAPI’s support for the government program,” said Nurlaila.
The government is committed to continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of the MBG program by involving various stakeholders, including local governments and the private sector. With strong synergy, it is hoped that this program will be a real solution in improving community welfare and creating a healthier and superior future generation. [*]
