Government Ensures Budget Efficiency to Optimize Public Services

The government emphasized that the budget efficiency policy will not disrupt health services and strategic programs that are oriented towards public welfare. Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin ensured that public service programs, such as free health checks and improving medical facilities, will continue to run smoothly. In fact, the government has adjusted the budget so that priority programs can continue to provide optimal benefits to the community.

Budget cuts are carried out selectively with a focus on non-priority spending such as official travel, ceremonial activities, and other operational expenses. The government has determined that these budget cuts will not impact essential sectors, but rather are directed at increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the use of state funds. In the Ministry of Health, for example, official travel is reduced, and echelon I officials are instructed to adjust travel policies to support savings without reducing work productivity.

For 2025, the Ministry of Health is managing a budget of IDR 105.7 trillion with an efficiency policy reaching IDR 19 trillion. This step is taken carefully to ensure the sustainability of programs that have a direct impact on the community. Overall, this efficiency policy is part of a more effective budget management strategy to strengthen fiscal resilience.

This step is also in line with the direction of the national fiscal policy which emphasizes budget optimization to encourage sustainable development. Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati stated that budget efficiency aims to direct state spending more towards programs that have a real impact on society, such as the Free Nutritious Meals program, food and energy self-sufficiency, and improving health services.

The Ministry of Social Affairs also adopted a similar step by optimizing operational spending without reducing social assistance programs. Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, Agus Jabo ensured that social assistance and the Family Hope Program (PKH) continued to run smoothly. The government also adjusted the aid distribution mechanism to make it more effective and on target.

In addition to the health and social sectors, budget efficiency is applied in various ministries and institutions to reduce non-urgent spending. In this policy, spending on ceremonial activities, meetings, seminars, and procurement of office stationery is significantly reduced. This policy reflects the government’s commitment to increasing the efficiency and accountability of state financial management.

Although many budget items have been adjusted, the government ensures that this step aims to increase the effectiveness of the program and provide greater benefits to the community. Efficiency does not mean aimless cuts, but rather optimization so that every rupiah spent has a maximum impact.

The government is also encouraging transparency and stricter supervision of budget use. Digitalization in budget monitoring is strengthened to ensure that state funds are used optimally and provide the expected results. This step is not only an administrative policy, but also a national strategy in strengthening fiscal stability and improving people’s welfare.

In facing global economic challenges, budget efficiency policies are the main key to ensuring the sustainability of development and public services. The government is committed to implementing this policy carefully so that it continues to provide maximum benefits to the community and encourage sustainable development.

This efficiency is also an example for local governments in managing budgets more effectively. By reducing less urgent spending, local governments can focus more on development that has a direct impact on people’s welfare.

This policy is not just a spending cut, but also a reflection of the government’s efforts to ensure that every budget allocation truly provides real benefits to the people. With the right steps, budget efficiency can be a momentum to improve state financial governance and ensure that development runs optimally for the progress of the nation.
