Young Generation at the Forefront of Drug Prevention
Jakarta – Drugs are still a serious challenge that requires the attention of all elements of the nation, especially the younger generation. Various eradication and prevention efforts continue to be carried out massively at the national and regional levels, demonstrating the commitment of the government and society to create a drug-free future. The younger generation has a strategic role as the vanguard in breaking the chain of drug abuse in Indonesia.
The government through the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) continues to strengthen collaboration with educational institutions. One concrete step can be seen from the collaboration between BNN and the Bhayangkara University of Jakarta Raya for the Prevention and Eradication of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN) program. The Chancellor of the Bhayangkara University of Jakarta Raya, Prof. Dr. Drs. Bambang Karsono, S.H., M.M., Ph.D., D.Crim., stated that this collaboration aims to educate students and the public to be more aware of the dangers of drugs.
“We fully support the BNN program in combating drugs. Our students will be encouraged to be actively involved in various prevention activities, such as counseling, training, and research related to drugs,” said the Rector.
The Head of the Southeast Sulawesi Province BNN, Brig. Gen. Pol. Christ Reinhard Pusung, also explained the importance of cross-sector collaboration, including with educational institutions, religious institutions, and local governments. “We plan to work with the Ministry of Religion and related organizations to provide education to the younger generation about the dangers of drugs,” he said.
This step is in line with the national strategy in strengthening the role of youth as agents of change. At the university level, education about the dangers of drugs will be integrated into the curriculum to form strong characters and a resilient young generation.
The active involvement of various parties shows a shared commitment to eradicating drugs. With the increasingly active role of the younger generation, Indonesia can create a bright future free from drugs. Every individual has the potential to become a pioneer of the anti-drug movement that inspires the wider community.
