The government has taken significant budget efficiency steps, but this will not disrupt the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) program and there will be no layoffs (PHK) for honorary workers. This policy shows the government’s commitment to continue prioritizing education and worker welfare, even in a situation of necessary savings.

Regarding the budget efficiency program, President Prabowo Subianto revealed that the government has succeeded in saving up to IDR 300 trillion in the budget. He emphasized that important programs, especially in the education sector, will not be affected by this efficiency policy.

This is a breath of fresh air for the community, especially for students who depend on KIP to continue their education. Prabowo emphasized that the efficiency implemented will not disrupt the daily operations of the government, and all programs that are vital to the people will continue to run.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani also provided assurance that the KIP Kuliah program will continue to run without being affected by the budget efficiency policy. In her explanation, she stated that for the 2025 budget year, the government has allocated a budget of IDR 14.69 trillion to support 1,040,192 KIP Kuliah recipient students. This shows that the government remains committed to supporting higher education in Indonesia, even in a situation of austerity.

Sri Mulyani also emphasized that the scholarships received by 40,030 people, including those in the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP) and Indonesian Education Scholarship (BPI) programs, will not be affected by this efficiency measure. Thus, all students who have received KIP scholarships can continue their education without worrying about budget cuts.

On the other hand, the issue of layoffs of honorary workers in ministries and institutions was also denied by Sri Mulyani. She emphasized that there were no layoffs for honorary workers due to the budget efficiency policy. This is important to note, considering the large number of honorary workers who depend on their jobs to meet their daily needs.

Sri Mulyani explained that the efficiency measures taken by the government would not impact the sustainability of honorary workers, and her party would conduct further studies to ensure that spending on honorary workers was maintained.

This budget efficiency policy, which is regulated in Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025, aims to increase the efficiency of state spending by cutting the budgets of ministries and institutions that are considered unimportant.

President Prabowo emphasized that these savings would be focused on reducing non-essential activities, such as overseas business trips and seminars that do not provide direct benefits to the people.

Thus, the budget saved can be allocated to programs that are more beneficial to the community, such as education and health.

The positive impact of this budget efficiency is very clear. By shifting the focus of the budget to programs that are more urgent and beneficial to the people, the government can ensure that the basic needs of the community are still met.

Education, as one of the main pillars of development, will continue to receive the attention and support needed to produce a quality generation. In addition, by not laying off honorary workers, the government shows its commitment to maintaining social and economic stability amidst existing challenges.

Budget efficiency is a strategic step in managing state and regional finances to ensure that every rupiah spent provides maximum benefits. With the implementation of budget efficiency, various positive impacts can be felt, both on a macroeconomic scale and at the community level.

One of the main impacts is increasing the effectiveness of government programs. A budget that is used efficiently allows for more targeted allocation of funds, so that priority programs such as education, health, and infrastructure can run optimally. This has a direct impact on community welfare and more sustainable economic growth.

In addition, budget efficiency also helps reduce the potential for waste and corruption. With a strict monitoring mechanism and transparent management, the budget can be allocated according to needs without any leakage that is detrimental to the state. Healthy state finances will create better fiscal stability and increase public trust in the government.
