Encourage Economic Equality in 2025, President Prabowo Announces 8 Strategic Policies

JAKARTA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto announced eight strategic policies to encourage economic equality in the first quarter of 2025.

The policies are designed to increase people’s purchasing power and accelerate national economic growth.

“The government will continue to implement strategic policies to encourage economic growth,” said Prabowo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

The increase in the provincial minimum wage (UMP) is the first step that is expected to strengthen workers’ purchasing power.

In addition, the government is accelerating the distribution of social assistance, including the Family Hope Program (PKH), Basic Food Cards, the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP), the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP), and Direct Cash Assistance from Village Funds (BLT-DD).

In order to support the economy ahead of Eid al-Fitr, the disbursement of holiday allowances (THR) for state civil servants (ASN) and private workers will be carried out earlier in March 2025.

In addition, the government has prepared various Ramadan and Eid stimuli, such as airline ticket discounts, toll rate discounts, and shopping promos through the 2025 Harbolnas program, EPIC Sales 2025, and BINA Diskon 2025. Food price stability is also a major concern.

Economic stimulus is also provided in the form of electricity tariff discounts, tax incentives for purchasing property and electric vehicles, and tax subsidies for electric and hybrid vehicles.

Income tax (PPh) for the labor-intensive sector will be borne by the government to encourage investment.

The free nutritious meal program is one of the priority policies to increase people’s nutritional consumption.

In addition, the acceleration of the distribution of People’s Business Credit (KUR) is carried out so that small business actors get easier access to financing.

Prabowo also highlighted the significant increase in national rice production.

“There have been reports that rice production has increased significantly,” he said. The government ensures that food supplies remain stable in order to maintain rice prices on the market.

The Ministry of Home Affairs also supports economic equality through the preparation of Urban Service Standards (SPP).

The Director of Regions, Urban Areas, and State Borders at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Dr. Drs. Amran, MT, emphasized that urban policies must guarantee social justice, economic welfare, and environmental sustainability.

“Indonesia’s urban services need to apply sustainable principles in the implementation of urban management,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT), Yandri Susanto, emphasized the importance of village economic development as part of efforts to achieve economic equality.

“All of this cooperation is part of the government’s efforts to realize President Prabowo’s 6th Asta Cita, namely building Indonesia from the villages,” he explained.

The various policies announced are expected to accelerate economic recovery and create equal welfare for all Indonesian people. (*)
