ITB Nutritionist: Prabowo’s MBG HR Vision Program Creates a Golden Generation of Indonesia

Jakarta – The Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) is one of the mainstay programs of the Prabowo – Gibran Government which has a good HR vision in order to welcome a golden Indonesia.

This was said by a Nutritionist from the Bogor Agricultural Institute, Prof. Ali Khomsan, in an interview entitled “MBG for Education, Health and Increasing MSMEs”, with Radio Elshinta, in Jakarta (21/2).

“This is an HR program that is carried out massively nationally covering all elementary, middle and high school students, even PAUD pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers,” said Prof. Ali.

According to him, one of the reasons why a nutrition program like this is important is because the issue of stunting has become a national issue since 2019. Then the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) revealed that the problem of stunting is not only a problem for toddlers but also spreads evenly around 18% to 23% between elementary, middle and high school students.

“So stunting in toddlers is carried over to school-age children. Even though we know that school-age children are the real growth period,” he explained.

Prof. Ali emphasized that the MBG program is an investment in human resources, not a long one.

“Well, what we hope for is that in the next three to three years there will be an improvement in nutritional status,” said Prof. Ali.

For your information, the government is targeting all children in Indonesia to have access to free nutritious food by the end of 2025.

President Prabowo launched the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) as a real initiative to improve community welfare and overcome the challenges of malnutrition and stunting in Indonesia.

This program is a concrete step to ensure that every child has access to nutritious food and has the opportunity to grow up healthy and smart. []
