So Important Program to Align Vision and Mission, Postponing Retreat is Irrelevant

JAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto has scheduled a retreat for elected regional heads who will be inaugurated on February 20, 2025.

This activity will take place at the Magelang Military Academy (Akmil) complex on February 21-28, 2025, attended by 481 regents and mayors and 33 governors.

This program aims to align the vision and mission of regional heads so that they are more in line with national policies.

President Prabowo emphasized that the retreat is an important opportunity for regional heads to strengthen their leadership and readiness in facing government challenges.

“If anyone feels unprepared to carry out their duties as a regional head, it is better to resign. This position requires full dedication to serving the community,” he said.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Bima Arya Sugiarto, emphasized that the retreat has been designed with a mature concept to provide intensive training to regional heads.

“This is not just a ceremonial meeting, but rather in-depth leadership training. Discipline will be applied as in previous cabinet retreats,” he said.

The material presented includes the main tasks of regional heads, strategic directions of the ministry, and national resilience training from Lemhannas.

Head of the Presidential Communications Office, Hasan Nasbi, emphasized that the retreat is an efficiency step in leadership training.

“This program combines the training of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Lemhannas, so it is more effective and cost-effective,” he explained.

The unification of this training ensures that regional heads gain a more comprehensive understanding of their duties and responsibilities.

The call not to attend the retreat is irrelevant, considering the great benefits offered in strengthening coordination between the central and regional governments.

This program is a strategic investment in increasing the leadership capacity of regional heads for more effective and sustainable development.

By attending the retreat, regional heads can carry out their duties better for the benefit of the wider community. (*)
