The retreat program for regional heads is a strategic step in aligning the vision and mission between the central and regional governments. The activity held at the Magelang Military Academy (Akmil) aims to strengthen coordination in order to implement national programs at the regional level more effectively and efficiently.
On February 21, 2025, the regional heads arrived at Akmil Magelang after previously undergoing a health check at the IV Diponegoro Military Command Main Regiment (Rindam). They arrived in official cars with red plates that reflected their respective regions of origin. Before entering the main hall, they underwent a health check as part of the standard procedure in this activity.
Upon arrival at Akmil, the regional heads changed into Reserve Component (Komcad) camouflage uniforms. With high spirits, they participated in the entire series of activities that had been prepared by the committee. One of the initial activities scheduled was a briefing session involving speakers from various fields.
East Java Governor, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, said that she was ready to attend this retreat as part of an effort to build synergy between regional heads and the central government. According to her, this activity is an important moment to align the programs carried out by each region so that they are in line with the national agenda.
Khofifah also emphasized that there was no special preparation to attend this retreat. She only ensured that she was in prime physical condition so that she could receive all the materials well. With solid cooperation, it is hoped that various national programs can run optimally throughout Indonesia.
In this retreat, regional heads received various materials, most of which were delivered by ministers from the Red and White Cabinet (KMP). Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Bima Arya Sugiarto, said that there were around 40 ministers scheduled to provide presentations in various sessions that had been systematically arranged.
In addition to the coordinating ministers, the speakers also involved strategic institutions such as Widyaiswara from the National Defense Institute. With the various perspectives provided, regional heads are expected to be able to implement central government programs effectively and in accordance with the needs of the people in their respective regions.
This retreat was not only filled with briefing sessions, but also various activities aimed at strengthening togetherness. As many as 450 regional heads started the day with Physical Fitness (SKJ) 88 exercise and Taman Pung Ceria was part of the activities designed to maintain the physical fitness of the participants.
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto added that this morning exercise was one way to build closer coordination between the central and regional governments. According to him, togetherness in this physical activity can create a more harmonious atmosphere among regional heads.
In addition, the retreat activity also became a forum for regional heads to discuss and exchange experiences in managing their respective regions. With the discussion forum, they can share the best strategies in overcoming various development challenges in their regions. This program featured simulation sessions in facing various government challenges. The simulation includes public policy scenarios, crisis management, and effective steps in coordination between regional and central governments.
On this occasion, President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend on the last day of the retreat. His presence is the culmination of a series of activities, where he will deliver directions and reaffirm the priorities of national development that must be implemented in all regions.
With the presence of the President, it is hoped that regional heads will increasingly understand how to run national programs more synchronously and effectively. In addition, this retreat is also a momentum for regional heads to increase their commitment in supporting the government’s major agenda.
In an enthusiastic atmosphere, the regional heads expressed their readiness to make all the programs that have been planned a success. They realize that close cooperation between the center and regions is the main key to achieving prosperity for all Indonesian people.
As part of the leadership training effort, this retreat provides new insights for regional heads in carrying out their duties. With a more comprehensive understanding of national policies, they can develop better strategies in managing their respective regions.
