Retreat Provides Provision for Regional Heads to be Synergistic with Central Government Programs
JAKARTA – The Regional Head Retreat organized by the government is a strategic step in strengthening synergy between the central and regional governments. This activity is designed as a provision forum for newly elected regional heads to be able to run the government effectively and in line with national policies. In the ever-evolving political and social dynamics, harmonization of relations between the center and regions is a determining factor in the success of development.
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Bima Arya, said that this retreat aims to strengthen emotional ties and build closeness between regional heads. “Through more open and informal communication, coordination in resolving various cross-regional problems will be more effective,” he said.
With a more harmonious relationship, the implementation of development programs that are oriented towards the interests of the community can run more optimally.
In line with that, Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Zulfikar Arse Sadikin, emphasized that this activity also provides regional heads with a comprehensive understanding of the constitution and government regulations.
“A good understanding of the laws and regulations will avoid overlapping policies that can hinder the achievement of development targets,” he explained. Synchronization of policies between the center and regions is the key to ensuring that development runs in harmony and effectively.
Furthermore, Zulfikar emphasized the importance of a spirit of devotion to the people. “Regional heads must place the interests of the community above political interests alone. That way, the resulting policies can truly answer the needs and aspirations of the community,” he said.
Spokesperson for the Presidential Communications Office, Ujang Komaruddin, assessed that this retreat is an important momentum to unite the vision of leadership between the center and regions.
“In addition to leadership material, participants will also be equipped with skills in efficient budget management so that regional development programs can run optimally,” he said. Providing national insight is also part of this retreat to strengthen the commitment of regional heads to the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
This activity also held group discussions and policy simulations as a means for regional heads to design development strategies that are adaptive to the challenges of the times. “We hope that this retreat can accelerate the achievement of national development targets, create more effective governance, and improve the quality of public services for the community,” concluded Ujang.
