TNI Law Ensures Soldiers’ Professionalism

Jakarta – The revision of Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the Indonesian National Army (TNI) is a step forward in strengthening the professionalism and strategic role of the TNI in maintaining the country’s sovereignty. This change ensures that the TNI is increasingly adaptive in facing global challenges and contributing to national development.

The Head of the TNI Information Center (Kapuspen), Brigadier General TNI Kristomei Sianturi, emphasized that this revision is not to revive the dual function, but rather to ensure that soldiers remain professional and ready to face the challenges of the times.

“This revision adjusts the TNI’s duties to the needs of the nation, without reducing professionalism. We want to ensure that TNI soldiers continue to contribute optimally to the country and the people,” said Kristomei Sianturi.

Support for this revision was also conveyed by political observer and senior researcher at the Human Studies Institute (HSI), Syurya M. Nur, who assessed that this revision clarifies the role of the TNI as a professional army.

“The TNI must remain the people’s army that is loved by the people because of its dedication and devotion. The revision of this law ensures that the TNI is increasingly professional and ready to face global challenges,” said Syurya M. Nur.

He added that this revision also strengthens the TNI’s commitment to the supremacy of law and democracy, thus further strengthening public trust in this state defense institution.

Meanwhile, the Head of Legal Affairs (Kakum) Koharmatau, Lieutenant Colonel Kum Anwar Musyadad, S.H., M.H., emphasized that the revision of the TNI Law is a strategic need to improve the professionalism of soldiers and strengthen state defense.

“This change is not only about regulations, but also how the TNI is increasingly ready to face modern challenges while adhering to the principles of democracy and the supremacy of law,” said Anwar Musyadad.

The government ensures that the revision of the TNI Law is part of a grand strategy to strengthen national defense and increase synergy between the TNI and all elements of the nation in maintaining state sovereignty. With increasingly solid professionalism and high dedication to the people, the TNI will be increasingly trusted as a modern and integrated defense institution.
