Former OPM Commander Supports Free Nutritious Meal Program in Papua

Papua Pegunungan – Former Commander of the Free Papua Movement (OPM), Yusen Tabuni, expressed his support for the Free Nutritious Meal program initiated by the government. In his capacity as a community leader in Wamena, he considered this program to provide great benefits for the welfare of the community, especially Papuan children.

“I personally support the government’s program including Free Nutritious Meal,” said Yusen Tabuni.

He considered this program to contribute to fulfilling the nutritional needs of the Papuan community, especially children who need nutrition to grow and develop optimally.

Furthermore, Yusen Tabuni emphasized that this program received a positive response from the local community.

“The Free Nutritious Meal Program was very well received by the Papuan community,” he added.

He emphasized the importance of support from various elements so that this program can run smoothly and provide maximum benefits.

In addition, Yusen Tabuni appealed to the public not to be easily influenced by hoax issues circulating regarding this program.

“So that the public is aware of hoax issues related to Free Nutritious Meals, as a community leader in Wamena, I fully support this because with this program, the nutrition of children in Papua is fulfilled,” he said.

Support for this program also came from the Chairperson of the Papuan Indigenous Community Institution, Lenis Kogoya. He asked the public not to be fooled by negative issues that mention this program as a covert effort.

“Don’t let there be issues like the food is poisoned or genocide. This is an unclear interpretation. No one should spread those issues anymore,” he said.

He also invited teachers to help protect the school environment from misleading information.

“There shouldn’t be those issues, because children need to learn and get nutrition,” he added.

The Free Nutritious Meals Program initiated by the government aims to ensure that Indonesian children, including in Papua, get sufficient nutritional intake to reduce stunting rates and improve the quality of human resources. President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the government’s commitment to making this program a success.

“I believe that by the end of 2025 all Indonesian children will be able to eat nutritious food,” he said.{^}
